I read a book on piano tuning and after a few years practice was able to do a passable job on my own piano, but using Verituner I can make it sound great! It really does what is says it will do. I will still have my piano professionally tuned every year (at my skill level it is still too much work), but this will allow me to keep it sounding great year-round.

Wow, wonderful. I've been a big box user for several years, this is even easier to see and it seems to be more responsive
  • EXCELLENT PRODUCT

I am an amateur pianinst and very amateur PT. I read a few books on tuning but was not confident in my ability without having had any supervised training. After much hand wringing, I decided to buy Verituner and see if I could do it. Long story short, I did it! It took me several hours but it was fun and interesting, and the results (imo) are very very good to my ears. I am sure I will improve after more experience with the app and obtaining a quality hammer. I am also looking forward to experimenting with the different temperaments in the app.

The software is easy to use and very well explained in the downloadable user's guide (I recommend reading this before starting.) Simply a fantastic product for amateurs and pros alike.

  • Great Piano Tuning App for Professional Tuners

This app is for professional piano tuners and helps produce great sounding piano tunings! Highly recommended!
  • This is a great app!

As an early adopter of the original Verituner VT-100 tuning device in 2001, I can whole-heartedly recommend this app for the professional and aspiring piano technician. It boots up instantly, no more waiting for the software to load. It takes a little getting used to using the touchscreen instead of punching buttons, but once you get use to it, it is very intuitive to use. I was a little worried at first about not being able to transfer my old tuning files to my iPhone, but I have found that even a brand new tuning sounds as good or maybe even better than a tuning with my VT-100. The bright color screen is easier on the eyes; I can tune 4-5 pianos without a recharge; it weighs ounces instead of pounds; and the app cost a lot less than my VT-100. If you own an iPhone and are a piano technician, do yourself a favor, cough up the bucks and make the investment in yourself and in your business.

  • Simply the best

There is nothing like this for a piano. Some people might think a free guitar tuning app will work buy they are mistaken. The piano has to many ringing harmonics for a simple app like that. Verituner is accurate and fast.
  • A bargain at the price!

I know there are those who will have sticker shock: perhaps this is not the right app for them - it might be overkill. The Verituner is very sophisticated, essentially doing a spectral analysis on every note to understand its characteristics and then computing a target based on other parameters you set. My old VT100 cost almost three times as much, weighs nearly four pounds, and has a slow, dim screen I can barely read. This is faster, much more portable, and a lot easier on the eyes.

Although intended for pianos, I have found this to be the only digital tuner that works well with clavichords. I have used the Verituner to tune harpsichords for many years with very good results. Likewise with fortepianos. You don't need this to tune your guitar, but for more complex stringed instruments (and I'm guessing instruments like pipe organs), there is nothing like this.

  • Great Software

This software outshines the competition in that it identifies the correct note quite fast. Other products do not do this very well. It is usually necessary to select the correct note on the device first but Verituner identifies just about any pitch correctly. I own another product which I also think is great but I wont name it here. I like having both. I just tuned my own piano using Verituner, and compared the tuning to a previous aural tuning stored on another device, and the result was remarkably close. I really like the interface, and the software includes many different temperaments and tuning styles.

If you are not a professional technician, but would like to learn to tune your own piano because you find it fascinating, I suggest contacting a local technician affiliated with the PTG, and hiring the person for a few lessons. Simply getting software like this is not going be sufficient, and you may need to hire a technician anyway.

  • Outstanding

This is truly an outstanding and very sophisticated app. I took a chance and bought it hoping that I would be able to experiment with historical temperaments on my piano (Steinway B). I am an amateur pianist and have no training in piano tuning. To my amazement, with a little research on tuning technique and practice tuning unisons for a few weeks, I was able to get a very nice tune the first time! Much better than many I have paid for. I can now not only touch up the tuning on my piano every week or so, but I have the ability to tune it with temperaments that few tuners know anything about.
