Saved our @#$es!
Saved the lives and souls of a group of engineering students at a prestigious university when the hardware pyranometers provided for a design class functioned worse than my grandmotherโs sense of hearing
Good educational tool
I like the app. It can be non-responsive at times but it does the job. I happened to have some guys set up a very accurate solar isolation station outside my office so I could calibrate the app and it gave me a k value of 10.1. I work with PV power systems so it's nice to have a simple way to make measurements. I just have to find an easier way to use the diffuser.

i need one
i have the app but how do you get the solar thing for it
Great
I am really happy to find this app. Have not played around with it much yet however I look forward to a sunny day and testing or against solar panels output.
Amazing software
This is great.. Helping me to calculate PV module for solar farm project.
Brilliant!
With 3 layers of white paper over the front camera, this application takes the iPhone and converts it into a fantastic little solar irradiance meter.
With my phone and the default calibration constant of 10, the software repeatedly gave results within a couple of percent to that read by a Daystar irradiance meter for irradiance values over 50W/m2.
I was unable to print the diffuser as Windows did not know how to handle the file, but found that cutting a long strip of white paper and wrapping it around the top of the phone 3 times worked really well.
The readings obtained were far better than simply a "rough guide" and were way within the 30% tolerance suggested by the developers.
This app is a MUST for solar designers/installers. Very well done! Thank you.

Astounding
It was fun and easy to print the diffuser "lens". Results are surprisingly illustrative. The difference in light level between indoors and outdoors was an eye-opener. A great little app for education.
