Be careful in verifying prices but overall strong platform
They have an issue with their mid point. It lags other brokerages such as Charles Schwab and you typically find that you’ve executed for much less profit and loss at the mid point than expected. Take your time because it’s easy to make mistakes on IB. However, given the nature of the industry is to pay to trade, I won’t dwell. Their customer service is very decent and reports somewhat confusing but after a few practices and run through straight forward. Their functions are customizable to an extent and easy to understand unlike other customizable brokerages with sub languages and acronyms that make trading confusing and frustrating. Execution is top notch with IB but you may need to get practice. I changed my review from 1 star to 4 stars. Certainly you are never getting an uncomfortable feeling like you would on Lightspeed that you are being confused or that your trading is burdensome.Show lessDeveloper Response
We are sorry to learn that your experience was unsatisfactory. It is not compulsory to subscribe to market data at IBKR. Clients are not obligated to subscribe to market data through IBKR. If you elect not to subscribe to a paid service, delayed quotes will be provided at no cost, where available. Some exchanges allow delayed data to be displayed without any market data subscription, free of charge. Customers receive free delayed market data for contracts to which they do not currently hold market data subscriptions when made available by the exchanges. Delayed market data is on a time lag that is usually 10-20 minutes behind real-time quotes. In addition, while the lack of real-time market data will have no impact upon execution quality, IBKR strongly recommends against trading without a source of real-time quotes to avoid erroneous or unexpected trades. I simply can’t give them a good review at all. Their pricing execution is such that they don’t list the market and bid ask prices, so the first order you see is one in which you stand to lose a significant amount of money buying into or selling out a position. Other broker platforms will take your price and then execute it at the nearest and closest best. I don’t know how IBKR is getting away with this. These people are crooks. They also allow you to fill at worse than market prices as well. In the industry that’s also never supposed to happen because the broker can send the order then fill it at market. All they care about it getting your order filled, taking commissions on two sides for ripping you off and perhaps even a part of the spread you’ll be paying, costing you in huge stolen profits and added-on losses. Try Schwab, Merrill, Lightspeed, etc., they don’t have this type of gaming like these crooks.Show lessDeveloper Response

I do love the interest on cash and rates offered for lending shares by Interactive Brokers. It’s a heavy complex interface but has access to the most markets I’ve ever seen, so it might be a function of how slow the platform is as a user. I wish it was more user friendly as a noobie, but I have been learning slowly but surely. So, it’s a barrier to entry, but it’s not insurmountable.
Often when I trade options the rate/price shown is way delayed, and I don’t love having to pay for data providers, but once I do, I truly expect accurate and snappy prices. But instead when I place an order I learn the price was way too high/low after I see the bid/ask after the trade! What good is that??
And then you just get terrible quality of service for some features depending on timing. For instance, I am trying to use the roll option feature, but it’s spinning forever and unusable for any of my positions right 20 mins ago. I tried 4 different positions and nada, so I come back 20 mins later and now it gets past the spinning and gets to the option but screen but none of the prices are painted on the screen. So, again I scratch my head and wonder why I am paying for data packages which are super complicated and never work. I am starting to regret my decision to move to IBKR, but will give it a few more months to see if it improves before switching to another broker.Show less
