Nighthawk M5
Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been using this app in Canada with the Nighthawk M5 for more than a year flawlessly.
I just love it !

Lies
You cannot configure the APN settings with this app. Why do they have to lie?
Incapable of Offloading to Wi-Fi as won’t accept WPA2 passwords
Incapable of Offloading to Wi-Fi as won’t accept WPA2 passwords
My attempts to add new Wi-Fi networks for Wi-Fi Offloading have been thwarted recently as this app refuses to accept verified legitimate WPA2 passwords. Sometimes (but not always) the interface is kind enough to provide the following embarrassingly flawed error message in red:
‘The password length should be 8 and 63 characters long’
This logically impossible and erroneous password length requirement suggests the bug may relate to an error introduced to password field validation during an update. Apparently sometime in the past year?
An effective regime of Unit Testing (LOOK IT UP!) would have prevented your software developers introducing such a bug.

All the good data is buried
Living van life you want everything close to hand and easily accessible. This software does a great job of making the important info hard to find. On my main screen in windows 11 (Chrome browser) iPad OS, and iPhone OS I want to see the power status, the signal quality, and the SNR WITHOUT logging in AND right there in the easiest to access location. Don’t let the programmers design your interface. Really underwhelmed by the software experience of this modem/router. Hardware seems good so far, but a little more thirsty of power than what I’d like, but good result so far. Just fix the interface.

Update firmware to remove accidental SSID editing
Everything is good but the air card allows you to edit the WiFi passcode from the main screen! Everytime I put this device in my pocket, I’ve ‘bum edited’ the SSID or passcode. It’s so easy to change it’s ludicrous. For example: if your WiFi password is “wifi1234”. After travelling about for the day my passcode will have changed to “wifi1234GGGGGJJHUUUUUsaggggGHHHHHHHIOOPPPPPP” Dumb feature that will never get fixed.

M5 not supported
So after contacting tech support twice i am told that there are no netgear specialists available to assist with my issue.
The app has been working fine and now it tells me that the m5 is no longer a supported device i have only had the device 2 years and i dont fancy spending another £900 on the new M6-pro which is basically the same device.
For the lack of mobile hotspot devices out there its very frustrating that netgear dont really care about customers or keeping products up to date and working for us.
The app is great until it stops working and your are locked out.

Works as expected
Despite the bad reviews, I’m lucky that the device and app work well enough for me.
There seems to be some features missing like the ability to set a SSID broadcast; nor have I tried it as a media server; but it’s a robust wireless cnx, portable, and I can manage most fns from the app on my smart phone.

Good app but…..
I’m not sure what is the purpose of the app when you can’t even rename the connected devices to tell what they are. There are a few settled things that could be changed such as creating profiles to easily categorize connected devices, allow the “rename” feature so customers can rename devices. Otherwise the app is good, just missing a few features to make it better.

No real band-locking options.
For the price and needs of people using these routers, support for locking bands should be there. The options do exist but are hidden to the end-user. Another issue is that the advanced statistics page needs clean up. I think that adding some graphs and details about each column would be a good QoL change to people that need that information.
Seriously, add band locking back. Very important feature for us rural users looking to get anything above 2 mbps.

Roaming data totals not included in totals
Why is roaming data not included in totals. Most mobile networks in Europe allow you to use your allowance abroad as long as you’re roaming in Europe so why not have the roaming usage included in data usage totals?
