  • Can’t connect wifi

Can’t connect to boat wifi (Vesper XB8000) and can’t get support from the developer. Concept is great but execution is rubbish.
  • So close… but yet so far

Downloaded this app to use for Hamilton Island Race Week on a Beneteau 47 that had lost instruments unexpectedly.
This thing could be amazing… except that auto switching marks does not work, and manually switching is buggy (vertical swipes seems to only work in landscape and not consistently). But the #1 problem is that every time the app loses power (when you put your phone in your pocket for example) it forgets you were racing. So you have to start the race again and swipe through each mark manually to get back to where you are.
Makes this exceedingly tedious to use and basically useless under pressure (Ie in race conditions).
    Have requested a refund.
If these things were fixed, I’d keep it for sure; and suggest NMEA 2000 compatibility as a needed feature.

  • Clunky and needs a update

Doesn’t really work reliably. Interface nearly there but at times struggles on phone and iPad Pro. Seems to hang at time. Setting a course not intuitive. Trying to change between start and race mode really hard. Other than that the base is ok.
  • My go to racing app

Just wish they were still maintaining it and adding new features.

This is totally useless to a racing yachtsman who knows what he’s doing. Posted by 2 x Fastnet class winner. Class 0 Winter series winner. 2019 beat Ben Ainslie on Round The Islan Race, Winner of La Rochelle & Lisbon Race. 20 years Rorc member. In top 3 for most offshore races since 1997.

  • Bug in system and lack of support

Lack of support amounts other things the product has a bug when connected to boats data and places you a long way (1000s of nm) from your actual position. Developer doesn’t appear to be interested in fixing the bug. Disappointing as it could be a really good app.
  • Works better with Calypso

App continues to work well. Switched from Sailtimer anemometer to Calypso, a better product with much better customer service. I like to split screen with Navionics. Complete instrumentation now no matter the device or location on the boat. Thanks SailRacer.net!
  • Seems quite good

After a few issues getting setup seems to work well
Would be great if it worked with Apple Watch.
  • Enter NA lat/long and it puts the mark in Asia!

If you are racing in NA, and your first mark is across several land masses, it’s perfect. Other than that, upon entering a NA last/long for a mark a couple of nm away; it records it as being in Asia somewhere. This, of course, makes it not much use for local races. It is frustrating, as otherwise, it might be a useful aid.

  • All the tools are there, now make it easier to use.

This app has so much potential, especially with Apple Watch 2 with GPS, if/when developed. I have tested beta versions (not yet released on iOS) of this app, data linker, and race committee and have seen what this app is capable of, mostly on Android devices The time to burn feature works flawlessly, but is finicky when calibrating. If it's done incorrectly, it can cost you a start or even worse, a race. UIX is the biggest hurdle, but if your looking for a sailing app to learn, or train, this is worth a try. The premium features cost about as much as a sailing lesson.
