Description of Sail Racer

This is a sail racing app for sailing enthusiasts and professionals. Application is used as an additional tool next to standard yacht equipment to take tactical decisions faster. Sail Racer app suggest the favored end of the start line, monitors your position, time and guides the maneuvers that the start line was hit at the last moment with the best possible speed. With the app it is easy to navigate in racing area. Interface is designed in a way that course efficiency, the lay lines and shifts could be captured in a splash of a second. Skipper does not need to analyze the numbers and can concentrate on handling the boat, maximizing performance and playing tactical games with competitors. Every wind gust and lull affect the boat heading and is visualized in a “easy to read” shift bar on the top of compass rose and on the map. Sail Racer is designed and developed by sailors. It has everything to sail on the edge. - Time to burn, Coundown and Starting box distances - Wind average calculation for 6minutes and an hour - Course average calculation (in case you do not have NMEA data) - Boat efficiency according to polar data - Mark, Layline distance and ETA - Tracker - NMEA 0183 data connection, BlueTooth data connection, SailTimer wind information - Current indication and many more More information www.sailracer.net Sailrace.net app is free for learning (Optimist kids, Lasers and other centerboards) and for evaluation purposes. We kindly ask all keel boat racers to purchase Premium license for 35 euros / year. Have a good start and even better finish. WARNING: App is using internal GPS receiver when it is not connected to external GPS via NMEA0183 interface. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Reviews of Sail Racer

Can’t connect wifi

Can’t connect to boat wifi (Vesper XB8000) and can’t get support from the developer. Concept is great but execution is rubbish.

So close… but yet so far

Downloaded this app to use for Hamilton Island Race Week on a Beneteau 47 that had lost instruments unexpectedly.
This thing could be amazing… except that auto switching marks does not work, and manually switching is buggy (vertical swipes seems to only work in landscape and not consistently). But the #1 problem is that every time the app loses power (when you put your phone in your pocket for example) it forgets you were racing. So you have to start the race again and swipe through each mark manually to get back to where you are.
Makes this exceedingly tedious to use and basically useless under pressure (Ie in race conditions).
Have requested a refund.
If these things were fixed, I’d keep it for sure; and suggest NMEA 2000 compatibility as a needed feature.

Clunky and needs a update

Doesn’t really work reliably. Interface nearly there but at times struggles on phone and iPad Pro. Seems to hang at time. Setting a course not intuitive. Trying to change between start and race mode really hard. Other than that the base is ok.
