All alerts in one place
I live in an area with lots of weather emergencies and summer Ozone alerts. I love this app because I can get alerts for my home location, work location or other counties/cities that are important to me. I use this instead of getting notifications from a bunch of different commercial weather apps. I can share alerts easily with those who don’t have it; and I know it will push all the National Weather Service alerts as well as air quality/Ozone Alerts too.Show lessThis app has become a small disaster
The FEMA app was best-in-class when it launched. It was clear and simple, and worked flawlessly. The premise isn’t hard: record a few locations and you can get selective alerts when bad things happen in those locations. But over time, as they’ve expanded it, more and more bugs have crept in. I’ve recently had it alert on multiple conditions that I had specifically turned alerts off for (and which the app shows I have alerts off for). I care if my brother goes through an earthquake, not if his plants freeze. Also, basic navigation is broken - you can’t get out of alert settings once you’re in. Unfortunately due to the notification spam, I’m turning this app off and will find another route for my emergency preparedness.Show lessZillions of notifications, but not the CORRECT notifications.
I’ve been under a winter storm warning since 9:20 this morning, but the app still insists on showing me LAST NIGHT’s update. It keeps sending me updates for the other area I’m watching (the city where I work), and those seem fine, but every time it updates the one for my town, it just keeps sending ones from yesterday (a winter storm watch updated at 3:20 pm yesterday), and then it finally updated this morning with a winter storm watch message from 11-something last night. Weather Underground and my local news station both say there’s been a winter storm warning in effect for the past hour. But the app isn’t showing that.Show less
