  • Pretty Good but...

Love it for playback and editing, but the instruments just barely sounds better than the Windows and Quick Play sound font.
  • It works great

Just does the thing, no complaints.

Great app ideal for trying out different songs and finding out the right key for your voice. You can change everything from pitch, instruments, pan, volume etc, it's brilliant. The only thing I'm having a problem with is not being able to change the drum sound but all the other instruments change to suit. Worth every penny.

    Developer Response

The default built in DLS file only have one drumkit. If you upload some other DLS/SF2 file, they will probably have more drum kits. Please read the help text in: Settings -> Sound ->DLS/SF2 File

  • Amazing App

I do have to say that with my large collection of MIDI files, it can handle them very well! I have over 250 files and several playlists. The mixer is great for just either messing around with, or changing the instruments to make your own masterpiece. Lyrics really only work if they're embedded, which most of mine aren't but that's ok. The chord display is accurate, and useful for playing alongside. I also love that custom .dls and .sf2 soundfonts can be imported using "open in…". It's also nice that every screen layout can be scaled and colored to suit your screen.

The default soundfont is ok, personally I prefer to use my own. The synth will drop some notes here and there, but really only when the song is hardcore, or it's in the background and I'm doing something else.

Comparing other MIDI players to this, this is the best.

  • Best midi-karaoke player I can find

This is a great piece of software for playing back and viewing midi files with lyrics and chord events. The internal sound quality of the internal is not too bad and can be enhanced with imported sound fonts. A few improvements I would like to see would be:
    1. Better (professional level) internal sound (rather than having to use an external sound module)
    2. The ability to tidy up lyric presentation from within the app itself (inserting line and verse breaks, spelling etc.)
    3. To be able to have options about how the chords are displayed (e.g. Above the lyrics rather than on a separate line at the bottom of the page) and to be able to edit the chords too.

Looking forward to future updates but already well worth the money for my purposes.

  • Great facility and great interface

Works a treat, and has been rock solid. The settings page shows how thoroughly developed it is. That's probably the reason it appears so often in searches for "midi player".

I'd just recently purchased Roland's sound canvas app but sweet midi has better Dropbox integration and easily configures to use sound canvas for sounds or an external midi/Bluetooth source.

The free version seems to have every feature enabled but will cut songs short until you purchase the full thing so you can try it all out before buying. It's more expensive than the other 'midi players' but really delivers. I'm going to use it at the keyboard for backing ...

  • Slightly Ridiculous

I downloaded this app to learn music from midi files. It plays only 75% of each track which is nuts! The full price is ridiculously high for an app in my opinion.
  • Got to love karaoke this app is for that

This app has acces to millions of song world wide and I can sing along
  • Truncated the song

For some reason it seems to truncate full midi song to two minutes only, therefore it is not raelly usable to me, otherwise it could be good player.
