  • Great app

Great app, I paid for the premium subscription as it works out to be £2.50 a month it tracks my scores and pin leaves and I can use it in a few of the centres that I bowl tournaments at too.

We are glad to hear that! Have you seen the Manual Scorekeeping feature? That can be used in older centers that hasn't get connected yet, or won't be able to connect because of old systems. Thanks for using the app! And by the way, please tell your center to visit lanetalk.com/centers/ to sign-up for a free center account to activate LaneTalk in their center.
  • 70 year old rookie bowler

As far as bowling goes, I started April 17, 2023 at the age of 69 and I have endeavored to become a above 200 average bowler with a goal of 300 game and 800 series those are my goals and Lanetalk is instrumental in me achieving my goals. I think my average is around 173 I’m not detained to 300 game yet but I’ve bowled some pretty good games and 240s and considering I’ve only been doing this about 10 months Lanetalk has been valuable tool. I can create. I can keep track of my scores and watch my progress. I’m very happy with this. I can look back at where I was a few months ago and look at the games I bold and frames in each of those games and compare. This is a tremendous tool
    Thank you Lanetalk

  • Was Great…no longer so.

Used the app for about 9 months and was just starting to like it enough to consider subscribing, when something happened. Almost everything was moved into a pay tier. Now having worked with software vendors for decades I decided I am not playing that game this time. If a feature was free and they move it into a pay tier they will do it again. I do not feel like being on the hook for monthly subscriptions only to find out what I was using now costs more. I read some reviews and apparently this has been done by Lanetalk in the past, so it only confirms my suspicions. I was at league tonight and someone was using it and I told them I had deleted my app and I used to love it and he said they reversed the decision and opened it back up as it was before. Apparently this is not the case as I just reinstalled it and it is slightly better than when I removed it the first time but still most features are behind a paywall. I will not be sucked into using an app then my data held hostage for money down the road for a new tier to pop up. It was fun while it lasted. I will be deleting it again after this review is posted. Thanks.

Hello, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed using the app for 9 months and that you appreciated the free tools, stats, in-sights and live scoring. We have offered a feature rich subscription for a year now and we decided to keep a limited free version and offer two subscriptions that can be purchased on a yearly basis; Basic $3/month or Pro $6/month. The Pro version is currently available as a free trial for 30 days where you can unlock ALL features and data to try if you like the additional features. If you have ideas on how to improve the app, please let us know! support@lanetalk.com
  • Ruined by corporate greed

We need some quick cash. Oh, I got an idea, let’s remove functionality that was previously free. Then sell it as a monthly subscription and no one-time purchase option. It’s no longer possible to view your history more than 6 games older, without a subscription. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Bowling is already a dying sport, and this is not helping to rejuvenate the sport. My long standing 1 star review still stands, and I would still rate it 0 stars if I could.

Please update your app and you will find the Live tracking again.
  • So little use for free users

I hate writing this review because in the past this app has been extremely helpful. But recently, this app has decline in value. Originally it was around 50% of data was available to those who use the app for free. But now you can’t even see all your previous games without spending money. Now 95% of the app is inaccessible to those who don’t want to spend 5.99 a month just to track bowling stats. ITS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!!! I get you wanting to make money and that’s understandable but the greed has gone too far. I literally can’t use this app since all of everything that I liked about it has been taken away. Please bring back the old Lanetalk.

Have you tested the trial to unlock everything (all data and all features) for free during 30 days? The Basic Yearly Subscription is only $3/month and will bring you everything you had before plus additional features and stats.
  • Love this app

Love this app. Only reason they aren’t getting 5 stars is because I finally bowled a 600 series (618 to be exact) but when I went to claim my games only the first game showed up. Have checked back several times and still only the one game. Husband had this issue also except he got his 1st and 3rd game scores. We use this app to help us make decisions on our bowling but when you don’t have all the information that’s a bit hard to do.

Hi there! Please reach out to support@lanetalk.com or DM on Social Media, and we are happy to help you with your scores. We had a network outage one evening last week, and it might have been during the time you bowled. However, contact us and we will fix your scores! Thanks!
  • Update Garbage

The update claims to be in to fix bugs. I did the update just to find out that now I have to pay to see what was previously included. I think that’s garbage. This isn’t the way we grow the sport you have to show value in the app to get people to purchase it, I highly recommended this app and doing the upgrade to a lot of people. However, I will not recommend this app to anyone going forward. I will also recommended everyone to get rid of this app and choose 10 pin toolkit. The surprise updates to gain more profit is not a way to grow the sport. I understand needing to make more money to keep improving but not the way you’re doing it. I’m not probably gonna be the only one that’s upset about this. I’m not gonna be the only one that dumps the app and I’ll be interested to see how your pro staff handles this update and the truly unprofessional way to make more money.

    Regards,

    Shawn

  • A joke

Locked all my games away behind a paywall now! The app is barely usable half the time and now wants me to pay to see my stored games and features I’m not going to use. Why don’t you improve the app performance before I even consider giving you money.

    Developer Response

Have you tested the trial to unlock everything (all data and all features) for free during 30 days?
  • Could make the data more useful

I like the app and use it regularly but there are a few things which would make it better and where the data is already available

First, more detailed ways of analyzing personal scoring data should be available,
    - what are my scores, leaves and stats for only first games, second, third, etc?
    - what are the same stats per frame? First frame across all selected games, second frame, etc
    - what are my stats per lane, assuming two alternating lanes. It would be best if you could number the lane just like you identify the house

Next, publish these stats by average range, just like the rankings are done

Then, do the stats in the prior step per league

Pros write these sorts of things down in their personal logs so why not give your users the same capability, without their having to deal with notebooks and spreadsheets?. The data is already available and could be much more useful for serious bowlers.

Finally the developers should keep track of whether someone has rated the app and maybe not ask so often

https://lanetalk.com/tag-games/Hello David, Thank you for your detailed feedback! Many of the things that you request can be managed by utilizing the new TAG feature for PRO subscribers. If you tag your games (or frames) with the preferred tag, then you can compare games by tags. For example, if you tag your game with Lane 1, then next game with Lane 2, then you are able to compare those games. You can setup your own tags and only your fantasy will set the boundaries of that feature. It's very powerful, but it demands more inputing from your side. We are also releasing a better compare feature in a couple of weeks where you can a comparison by using more pre-defined "out-of-the-box" tags. You can select multiple tags, center, lane, balls, season parameters etc to do comparisons. This is a step towards a simpler way to do more advanced comparisons without the need of tagging everything manually. You can learn more here: https://lanetalk.com/tag-games/ If you have any more questions, please reach out to our technical support, support@lanetalk.com. We appreciate your feedback and ideas!
  • Doesn’t track first 3 total if you bowl more than 3 games

When I’ve bowled over 500 series in the first 3 games it doesn’t add to tracker for best 3 average if you bowl more than 3 games

    Developer Response

Hi, You are right, the Monthly ranking area "Best 3 blocks" currently only show your first 3 blocks from that month. It will be adjusted in coming versions. If you have any other improvements, don't hesitate to contact our technical support: support@lanetalk.com, thanks!
