Great mag

As an avid what car mag subscriber, I opted for the digital addition as part of my subscription and love it. Great to be able to open an edition on the train.

It took me a while to realise that the issues were available in the library tab, as on the store it kept asking for money! This aside, a great product which I hope they continue to innovate as complimentary product to the mag not just replicate it.

Good layout and navigation, blurry text

Review based on usage on an iPad 3, the 2013 awards issue. The navigation and layout have been adapted well to the iPad - it is quick and intuitive to browse or jump to what interests you, and the different elements of each page scroll independently. Loses a star because the text all appears to be blurry bitmaps/scanned images rather than native fonts.

Useless and crashes constantly needs reinstalling

Date of review Aug 2013. What a waste of money! Only way you can read this on my iPad (1) is to reinstall the app, then download the issue and heaven forbid you allow it to close down....it never restarts until you do the aforementioned again! When first released it was unreadable and was like watching a photocopy which was blurred, I thought it was fabulous when they finally fixed that....having wasted my subscription for those months, now I have an unreadable magazine which I just live in hope one day will work. My complaints to the company go unnoticed...I rang and suggested I might cancel (which I would if I didn't actually like the magazine) and the response was ... We re disappointed but yes you can...NOT....we will fix it ASAP ! Hopeless!!!

Don't

I love the hard copy version of this mag, but absolutely loathe this app. No zoom, and thus leaves you with coarse lettering that cannot be read. I mean, what's the point buying a magazine that can't be read? Angry and completely disappointed. Worst example of what mags look like on retina display.

Bit of a swizz

It's not a particularly bad app, it's just that each magazine costs Β£4.99,the same as a the hardcopy version, but a lot of the info is not included like the section at the back that gives info on every car.i think top gear magazine sells for a lot cheaper than the paper version.

You can't zoom in like you could on the old versions but it isn't too much of an issue but you can only read the mag in one orientation which again isn't too much of a pain, just a bit presumptuous.

Needs sorting out and a price reduction as you are buying a digital version!

Hopeless

Completely put me off the magazine, unable to zoom, therefore unreadable without a magnifying glass, given the competition from the likes of evo and car this is terrible,

I only gave it one star because you cannot give 0

The reviews are true - total mince

I've just cancelled subscription. Earlier version was simply an electronic version of mag, but allowed you to zoom in on photos and text and included all info from printed mag. This version has less info than the mag, doesn't include the data sheets on models, and doesn't allow you to zoom into pictures. What's worse is that the older versions in your archive have been converted too, and the print is too small to read and can't be scaled. Totally unreadable now.

As we say in Scotland - total mince!

Update Urgently Required. Haymarket take note.

I used to subscribe to the paper version of this magazine a couple of years ago and ave always enjoyed the reviews and information contained within. I was looking forward to renewing my subscription using this app.
I had downloaded the previous version of the app, which worked fine with the random issues I had purchased, and updated when the new version was launched.
As a birthday gift my wife said she would pay for the subscription to the magazine for a year.
However, after reading the reviews she asked me if I was sure the subscription was what I wanted.
Of course it was then that I discovered that the updated app was flawed in that the text is unreadable, rendering my previous copies useless and, until corrective action is taken, Haymarket will not be adding this user as a subscriber. I guess that there are many others who won't be spending their hard-earned on this either.

Haymarket.

This is a major issue which needs resolving. The app brings your magazine right up to speed as, I'm sure, many readers would prefer to access the magazine via hand held devices and archive previous issues digitally. You are missing a trick, and more importantly to you, revenue from your customers. If you're not careful, not to mention quick, people like me might just choose to spend their money on a fully working version from 'AutoExpress' instead.

Worst update of all time

You'd be foolish to buy this version, run away from it like plague! The last update completely destroyed the user interface. It is utterly ridiculous that a well known magazine like this would approve the release of this update and what's even worse is that they haven't released a fix even though has been several weeks. This is the most rubbish magazine experience on an iPad ever! How What Car can tolerate this I will never know, I feel like a mug for having bought this subscription. Where is the fix??????

Landscape view only and no zoom?????

Why has the update to What Car? Not allow you to view in portrait or to zoom in to actually read the magazine text. Please fix soon!
