Beware - Do not update What Car App from v.2!
I purchased/downloaded the Feb 2013 issue at the beginning of Jan. It was an exact replica of the print magazine - excellent. I just updated the App to the Jan. 7 interactive version and can no longer access the magazine issue that I purchased. It has disappeared from my Newstand. I hope this is a temporary glitch. I am not impressed!
2013/01/30: It took several days before the Missing Issues button finally succeeded in restoring my Feb 2013 issue but it no longer includes the Buyer's Guide tables of performance etc. info. that was the main motivation for my purchase. Also the loss of the ability to zoom renders much of the text v. difficult or impossible to read. My Jan 18 email request to What Car for help in restoring what I have lost by updating remains unanswered. If you have not yet updated - lucky you.
P.S. The Feb 2013 issue that I bought using v.2 still hasn't
appeared for sale in the What Car store in v.3.

Since the app was upgraded it is unreadable
There are some nice touches to the newest upgrade of the iPad app. It loads quickly - the media servers have been beefed up - that's good. The magazine is full of interactive features. Cool. However, the app only works in landscape and you cannot zoom in. Even with a retina display on the iPad and 20:20 vision, there is no way that the magazine can be read. It,s just way too small to read. The app is therefore useless until this is fixed.

What at iPad v3
The old v2 app was fantastic, I could zoom in on the page, read it portrait style and I flt really used to it. It was simple. Roll on v3 app from 7th jan 2013 a d now you are reading only landscape and cannot zoom!! Now you have to read the entire page on the iPad screen - I gave up after 3 pages, too sore. Needs to change back or I will not be resubscribing. Or change to allow users to zoom.

Terrible - upgrade at your peril
Absolutely livid. I'm in the process of choosing a new car, paid for several issues, then upgraded to this new version. Half the issues I paid for have been lost. But what is really insulting is that the text is now too small to read on my ipad mini and there is apparently no zoom function! Basically, they took a Bentley app and replaced it with a 1980s Skoda whilst claiming it is new and Improved.
I really can't understand how this app could pass any kind of quality control or testing. Can only assume the work experience boy must have uploaded it accidentally.

What Car?
Unless I am missing something, the update has completely ruined this app. Can't seem to zoom in to read the screen and you have to view it in landscape - very hard on the eyes.
Lost Purchases
Do not update, you lose all of your back issues and are unable to restore them.
Will not be purchasing any more issues until my back issues are reinstated.

Update has deleted all my issues and is trying to make me pay for them again
The update has removed all my previously downloaded issues and tells me there are no issues to restore. I have a subscription through iTunes which the new version doesn't recognise so I seem to have lost everything I've already paid for as well as the chance to download any new issues.
It is amazing how many apps seem to be released without having been tested properly - this is another. Don't update to the new version until they've sorted it out.
