Description of NN Clock

The No Nonsense Alarm Clock was made to be simple and easy to use, yet powerful and flexible. What is does, it does good: "Perfect minimal analog clock I'm a huge fan of analog clocks with good alarms for iPhone and this one is in my top 5. I currently have 23 ( just counted) and many aren't clean, simple and just good, this is a keeper. "Awesomely Simplistic This app has an elegant watch interface and simply and dependably does what it's supposed to. More wake-up tones would be welcome, but adding to this app might defeat its appeal. Highly recommended! ... The longer I have had this app, the better it gets. Very intuitive and increasingly feature-rich I have discovered." "KISS Approach - it just works Well, this application is such a find. It keeps everything at the most basic level and in doing so it is pure genius. Couldn't ask for anything more even though it is so "less" than what the other apps try to promise" "Simple, works, looks great. I'm embarrassed to say how much I've spent buying alarm clock apps. This is by far the best one, and it is free. It just works. Looks great, easy to set the alarm or multiple alarms. Enormous snooze button. Very well done!" Key features: - Set an alarm by simply moving the alarm hand - Choose between 3 alarms and alarm-off by swiping the alarm window - Start a timer/countdown by turning the ring - Change background images (new) - Register sleep in HealthKit When the alarm goes off you don't have to choose between two buttons - there is only one: Snooze. The alarm sound can be chosen from 8 different build-in alarms, which all work even when the app is in the background or the device is suspended. When the app is in the foreground it can play any song you select from your Music library - slowly fading in if you choose. The brightness of the screen is easily adjusted by sliding two fingers up or down the main view. The Alarm Clock looks great on your night stand.

  • Nn clock is cool

    Awesome app
  • Off-label use in meetings and lectures to avoid disruptive alarm sounds

Great app. I use the green alarm needle as an end-of-meeting marker that is easy to view without distracting other meeting members. For example, if the meeting is supposed to ends at 2:45 pm I set the green needle to the 9 position on the dial. I can then with just a glance easily judge how close the current time is to the scheduled meeting end. I do not want an alarm to sound at the meeting end time, as this is disruptive and frankly rude. I can gently and politely announce the meeting end when the minute hand meets the green needle marker.

I also use each alarm in an analogous fashion to mark the end of my lectures. I do not want to use a sound alarm because students are prompted by the ringing to stop paying attention and start storing books and electronic tablets in their backpacks. This cause an unwelcome sudden disruption in the lecture room, where chit chat background sounds become prominent. The NN Alarm allows me to be visually aware of how close I am to the end of the lecture, allowing me to make timely final statements free if background disruptions. As I teach 3 lectures, each one ending at a different time, the availability of 3 alarms allows me to set an end-of-lecture marker for each lecture

Request for improvement: the green needle does not align perfectly with the white marks in the clock face in my iPhone XR. For example, if I try to align the needle with the rectangular tick mark corresponding to 9 on the dial, the green needle will leave either the upper or lower part of the white tick mark exposed, even if the digital alarm read out shows exactly 9:00 pm. Although this mismatch does not matter if the only objective is to get a sound to ring at exactly 9pm, it reduces the quality of the app interface and suggests an undeserved perception of lack of workmanship and lower quality standard. The visual mismatchMakes their user wonder whether the alarm has been set at 9:00, 8:59, or 9:01 pm. I hope you can fix this problem.
