Better than lugging a paperback around
Great for quick word searches. Only negative is it doesn't include most conjugated versions of words so, particularly with irregular verbs, searches come up empty. Otherwise very handy and pronunciation isn't robotic sounding, pretty natural.Quotaddickt
Very handy app.
I'm in my 60s but spending more one in France so I decided to learn the language. This app has been invaluable. OK so occasionally there is a word that can't be found by by & large this works very well for me.GeordieGillie

OK for basics, weak on verbs
This app is so-so for basic look-up. I have one real problem: verb forms. No verbs are listed, and there is no conjugation guide: for instance, if I see the words "nous sommes" and look up "sommes" I get only the word "etre." Because I've studied French before, I assume that "sommes" is the first-person plural of "etre." But there are many verbs I would not recognize, and there is no conjugation that I can find. And if there is a conjugation function, shouldn't it be easier to find? But this app does provide a number of idiomatic expresions; that's helpful. And it is a pretty good basic dictionary, with pronunciation guide.Show lessCeunie
Missing gender/applicable articles gets a two star deduction
Love the audio pronunciation and there's a very good library of words and definitions but I can't imagine why the developers of this app omitted the all important, corresponding gender so essential for anyone who is not fluent in French. Works Great, and lots of words, but...
If you are learning French, gender is very important. Add notation for masculine, feminine and gender neutral. Still a very useful app. Best feature is the search, which can help you find the meaning of a word or regular conjugated verb without knowing the unconjugated spelling. You usually see your word before you finish typing, then just pick it from the list.Show lessNuclear Energy

I find this dictionary very good but I would like to see all French nouns with masculine or feminine gender clearly shown - surely this would be most important and would save having to refer to another dictionary for this information.baybearoz
Great French dictionary
I use this dictionary very often, it is wonderful. It allows me to look up words and hear the pronunciation. I also like when words have example sentences which is excellent feature that would be nice if they had more of. This is a must have app if you are learning French.Intermediate learner
