  • Works!

To those waiting for the hardware- they are shipping now. Can take up to four weeks depending on your countries customs procedure. Email TriggerTrap support and they will help you out.

I found to make device trigger your camera you need to remove volume limit from your iDevice (volume limit should be located in music settings). Turn volume limit off and volume up to full then the device should work fine with camera. This advice is listed on their help page but Tom me ten minutes to find.

Right now for some fun, so far does exactly as promised.

  • Daytime HDR a No-Go

Kudos to the devs for changing the HDR mode's name to LE HDR Mode in the most recent update. (LE for long exposure) Still, the great majority of people who shoot (or are interested in starting in) HDR are not vampires: They shoot during the day. So most will just see the "HDR" part and pull the trigger (no pun intended). While this functionality may spark some to try LE HDR at night, I could have done that without this item. I am hoping the developers can add faster shutter speeds in future versions. (I'm not a software engineer. But it seems to me that an app, this one or otherwise, that enables daytime bracketing should be right around the corner, no?) I give it three stars as the intervalometer works quite well. (Though I think the free version might do this too.) For now, HDR enthusiasts, WAIT.

  • It ain't workin!

The dongle and camera cable just arrived. I bought this App ($13.99) set it all up and..... nothing happens except the App keeps quitting. Money back? I think so. UPDATE. Company sent replacement dongle. Working perfectly now. Very clever app. :-)
  • Don't buy for HDR!

The description for this app is misleading. HDR support is claimed, but the minimum exposure time is 1/10 second, so it is only useful for nighttime or long-exposure HDR. That is a very limited subset of HDR photography. HDR mode is still buggy otherwise. Very disappointing!

[The app description has since been changed to indicate the shutter speed limits for HDR. However that is of little benefit for those of us who bought the app and dongle based on the original description expecting proper HDR functionality.]

The basic cable release function (also in the free version) works ok, but you can buy standard remote releases for less that than the cost of the dongle + cable.

Be sure to check the support forum to make sure you understand what the app can and can't do, confirm compatibility with your camera, and are aware of any relevant bugs.

  • False HDR advertising

The app says it can shoot up to 19 bracketed shots for HDR. This is impossible when the fastest shutter speed that can be used is 1/10th. That is one second. 19 exposures would put your longest exposure into the 20-30 minute area. I bought this for HDR photography only to find that it is useless in the daylight. Actually unless you are shooting long exposure hdr in the near darkness then you will not want this app. Still lots of bugs too. Non of the functions work right half the time and the battery runs down really fast. I've noticed the iPhone also gets very hot when running this app. I've waisted money on this setup so I'd advise you to not purchase this at all.

  • Amazing idea

First off, this program will not send information to your camera. So if you are looking for a cable release that you can change aperture or shutter speed you will need to buy one from Nikon, Canon, etc., there is no app for that. This program just triggers the shutter and it does an amazing job. A super cheap intervalometer, perfect for taking timelapse photography. Many different ways to trigger the shutter so you can be creative with how you take your pictures. Got my cable today and have been playing around with this app and am super pleased with my purchase.

  • Great potential

Have ordered my trigger kit and can't wait to use it with my 5D mkii. App is a little buggy, but expected in a 1st release.
  • Great Idea... In practice - Will Have to Wait ..

This is a great idea, a load of different, settings, for different Photo time lapse modes, have tried it with my 4 s and New iPad using the built in cameras.. So far very good.... But will have to wait to evaluate full, potential when my - SLR plug in Dongle arrives..
??? Just ordered it, it's brand new so ill be waiting for it to arrive from USA... But as I said with the Phone it is great fun... Want to do a long time lapse Journey video, filmed from the car and see if it is good.. Because of the lack of weight and bulk using the iPhone, there should be minimal vibration...

Looks like this could be a really useful, all round - Photography tool.

    Check out the free version....

  • Unbelievable HDR Settings!!!

So my name is Scott Gross and I'm one of the original backers on KickStarter for the TriggerTrap. I just read that we are greeting the Dongles too to make this work with the Camera we picked from the beginning. I had no problem spending $9.99 for this app while still waiting on the TriggerTrap to arrive in a couple of weeks. This lets you Trigger The camera on the iPhone and iPad too. What really sparked my interest to jump right is is a setting to do Bracketed Exposures on a Camera that only does this for the range of 3. With this App you can setup between 3 to 19 Exposures!!! 19, Really 19!!! I can't wait to do this, and I will update as soon as I get this rolling.

    Thank You

  • Awesome!

I just downloaded and spent my lunch time playing with all the modes. No crashes. Love all the triggering options, they thought of everything! Motion, sound, magnetic, time lapse any way you want. Proper HDR too. Even take pics on the road every set amount of distance. Only problem, I'm going to need a bigger hard drive to store all the playing around I do with this thing! Good job guys.
