  • Very good. Small bugs

Awesome app. Makes finding routes extremely easy and gives simple descriptions of approaches. Pictures of the walls with graphed lines for each climb is very organized and boosts the climbing experience so much. My only problem is a few bug fixes. The main one is a glitch that happens after I blow up the route pictures to full screen and then try and shrink it down to read the description, about half the time it flashes to a tan screen and I have to restart the app to get it functioning. It is extremely annoying. Please get this fixed. Also the GPS system is a little touch and go. Great when it works but only works about 20 percent of the time. Looking forward to new books!!

    Developer Response

Hi, I'm pleased to say that full-screen bug was only out there for a short time and was fixed just after this review. Sorry for the inconvenience! We'd always love to hear about your experience with GPS navigation, which works very reliably for most users and in our tests. Email us at support@rakkup.com and let us know how we can make it better!
  • Finally

A climbing topo app that gives you more than a guidebook! Easier to get to the climb and knowing where you are with gps functionality. Also love the have more than one picture especially on multi-pitch climbs. The best is that all data is on your phone, so no need for a wifi or 3G signal.
  • Love Rakkup

I've loved using rakkup, and I see a lot of potential for the future. It is helping to bring climbing to more people, and making the knowledge that is essential to growing as a climber more accessible. Very easy to use program, makes finding the routes you want a breeze, instead of hunting around an area and guessing the grade. Love Rakkup

  • A very powerful backcountry ski tool

Route planning and terrain knowledge are some of the most important elements of backcountry skiing in avalanche terrain. This is why a quality photographic guidebook written by a professional is such a great resource. RAKKUP takes this to a whole new level. Professionalism, and trusted knowledge are still the cornerstones of the app. But the power of digital tools are unleashed by the developers. Photos you can zoom on, drawn routes you can hide or show, terrain filtering features (aspect, slope angle..etc), and most amazingly, turn-by-turn navigation on topographic maps. To top it all off, you can download any RAKKUP "book" and access it offline, and without phone service. I'm definitely a bit old school, and prefer paper books in most cases. I also have only a small handful of apps on my phone. So it's certainly impressive that I was able to figure out how to use the app without much frustration or learning curve.

  • The next generation of guidebooks

Though I still truly love printed guides, the new era of digital is here an with route development constantly growing the live updates from RAKKUP make finding your routes much easier, especially in some of the more obscure areas.
  • Guide book in my pocket

Most people don't leave home with out their phone. It's a camera, music player and general comunication device. People, reportedly, even make phone calls with them:) Now you can also have your climbing guide book on your phone. Combine that with a gps and you can find the climb you want to do easy even when your visiting a new crag!

Super easy to use and you can use it off line as well, which lost of other apps you can't. I have used others but for me this is the best one!

  • We got screwed by Rakkup

Went to use Rakkup in Red Rocks and it worked fine for the first 1/3rd of the hike and then refused to open. Would keep hitting the load screen and then just booting me back to the home screen without opening. Restarted phone, force quit app, and cycled airplane mode to no avail. We had to bail because we were counting on the beta contained within the app to get up Crimson. Go buy a book instead, it won't crash and end your day of climbing before it even begins.

  • Great app for climbers

Can't find room in the already loaded climbing pack for a guidebooks? Is the online description to a wall only succeeding in getting you lost? Well, look no further Rakkup is for you. A streamlined interface coupled with GPS locations to all routes with accurate descriptions by locals and frequent fresh updates creates an unbeatable rock climber tool. We used the Tensleep and Cody guides recently and were very impressed with how intuitive the Rakkup Guide intrface was. Also, Many of the routes were not published anywhere else (that we know of) so it was great to get have "inside" accurate beta. The guides are also cheaper than paper guides which aids frugal climbers. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

  • App is a must have for climbers

This app is quickly becoming a must have for a climber that climbs at a location that features the Rakkup guide. Rakkup does an awesome job of mapping you to the routes and areas, and showing excellent photos and topo's to help make sure you are on the right route. I found it easy to use, and would absolutely recommend it.
