Pixlr AI Art Photo Editor User Reviews

Top reviews

Have used for years

I don’t know why I’ve never written a review for Pixlr, because it is my favorite photo editing app. I enjoy using the free features offered- they are the typical edit tools, except that they have a brushes tool that can be used in many ways! I don’t know of any other editing apps that offer a brushes tool with as large of a color scale or color picker (off photo). The filters are different from other photo editing apps as well. They now have a paid subscription option, and because I love the free version- I will most likely purchase to see what other amazing things Pixlr has to offer. ❤️

Great app

So much fun (and fast) to create a collage that would otherwise take a long time in photoshop!

Excellent value for money

As good as any other but at a much better price

It doesn’t work!

I just purchased pixlr and it immediately froze. I can’t load pictures or edit anything..nothing I do seems to help.

Put the labels back!

This has been my go-to photo editing app for years. After a disastrous previous update, which caused me to have to relocate and re-favorite my most used filters, they updated it again to make it almost unusable. I need to know the names of the filters I use, so I can edit all my photos the same way every time. Now, none of the filters or effects have any names. They’re all “default”. I can’t go in and select the filters by name, like Ingrid and Sarah, so I can’t make my photos the same. This is absolutely terrible. I hoped that the “bug fix” update would address this, but it hasn’t. With every filter and effect simply being labeled “default”, the app is almost unusable. This is extremely upsetting, I’ve used Pixlr since before I even had an iPhone. Seeing how bad it’s gotten is disappointing to say the very least. I don’t want to have to switch to a new app, because I’ve always gotten the effect I wanted with this app. Now, it’s like trying to edit a photo with a blindfold on. Unless this is fixed, I’m going to have to rely on a completely new app and delete Pixlr. Not good at all.

Response from developer

Hi there, thank you for reaching out to Pixlr. There was a major update to introduce the new AI tools and options. The account is required for credits to use the new tools. Hope this clarifies.

Recent changes

This app has been by far my favorite photo editing app for so many years! I use it every single week, for my family and my business. I even use it for very simple animations, believe it for not. I feel like I couldn’t live without it, and this would have been a five star review if it wasn’t for the recent chances in the last day or so. Please bring back the names of the filters, frames, and overlays! You have no idea how much easier they make it to use! Not to mention the personality it gives it. And it seems like you got rid of filters and switched the order of a few things. Please put it back. I don’t usually get emotional about these kinds of things, but I’ve probably had this app since it first came out many years ago, and it’s like an old friend. It’s seen my kids grow up. It’s made art out of the photos of pets who have passed away. It’s helped me restore old damaged family pictures.
I would love to have it be something I can still use to the same capacity. I will tell everyone I know to download it if you please just fix it. Thank you for your time.
