A Texas Best

I am not a big game player but i dearly love being able to play my favorite game without having to visit a cotton gin or wait for a family reunion. Granted no amount of technology can replace the enjoyment of visiting or trash talking a live game provides, but this app has provided an opportunity to brush up and hone my rusty playing skills. As a Red Raider it pains me to do so but my hat's off to my "new favorite Aggie"!

Love it!

Love this app! I wish more people played it though...hopefully it will catch on so I can play real people. I do wish that I could see the other players' dominoes at the end of a game. I get to see them in every hand but the last one. I always like to see if it would have ended differently had I played a different domino. Other than that, that's the only issue!

Great game

Despite growing up in Texas I only recently learned 42. However, I find it much more interesting than the various card games solitaire, hearts, spades, even bridge. 28 tiles makes it faster than cards and the fact that there are 7 suits, and tiles can be of more than one suit, adds to the mental challenge. Despite this the basic rules are fairly easy to learn.

Great 42 Experience

I picked this game up yesterday and have been playing the heck out of it. I have to say, the developer has come up with some great gameplay algorithms- I win about as much as I do while playing with my friends (using default difficulty settings.)
I have a couple of suggestions for the developer. These are just 'nice to haves' that I think would add a great deal.
1) it would be nice to see some running statistics on your gameplay... How many bids you make/set, games played, etc.
2) this is for beginners to the game- if there was a 'tutorial' mode or something where the user has the ability to roll-back gameplay to see what would happen of another domino was played, or maybe the computer suggests the best move.
Those are just 2 suggestions for future development/improvement. The game is great, and if you're looking to play an essential Texas game on your phone or iPad, this is the one to get!

-thanks and gig 'em.

Much improved from earlier 42 apps

Finally, a 42 app that I can play without being so annoyed by the AI that it isn't worth playing. There have been a few instances where the AI choices didn't seem optimal, but overall they're at least as good as a beginning player and they've been improving.

One thing I'd like to see improved though: I'd love to be able to rearrange the tiles in my hand as desired.

Good 42 app

Very realistic. I'm a big 42 player. There are some minor flaws. Doesn't let you bid low, doesn't let you play interactive multi player, and a couple other minor issues.

But as you can see I gave it 5 stars because it is has really realistic computer players. They make moves like they've been playing 42 for a while.

Fun

Excellent game. It may not have every variation of bidding options, but it is a little refreshing to not have 10,000 options available. Only wish there was a way to set the dot colors to black; however, it is not worth dropping a star for.

And excellent Futurama reference in the default player names.

Best Game I Have.

I'd give 10 stars if I could. I used to watch my parents and grandparents play this game and now I can join them, this game actually taught me how to play! It truly is the best game I have. I've been playing it daily for 6 weeks and it doesn't get old! Thanks for creating such a great game.

Great game!

Updates keep improving. Well worth the cost! Please consider on future updates: an "undo" option (sometimes my big finger hits the wrong domino), "doubles LOW" on Nello; and also -- couple of AI tweeks: Should not consider "count" on bids of 84; and my partner bid two marks (when no other bids had yet been made) when we were already up 6-2 (so, he should have bid only one mark). Thanks for this game!!

The app I've been waiting for!!!

Finally, an app that does some justice to the game of 42. Good 42 games are hard to come by. I grew up playing this with all of my relatives in Texas, but it's hard to find people to play in different states.

Any chance on having multi-player/network play added? I love being able to play the computer, but it would be nice to be able to connect 4 phones and play actual people when the dominoes aren't handy. :)

A HUGE thank you to the developer for this app!!
