I have this game on a 10 year old game phone that I still have, and still play, (I never got the forced update, and I’m not complaining!), it’s so old I can’t even tell you what version Motorola it is… and I prefer that version to this updated version I downloaded on my iPhone 12… There’s no more passing cards during blind nil, there’s no more game variations, like whiz and mirror… and the opponents and your partner/opponants still play like they’re 5 years old, bidding 1 trick when they have the Ace, king and queen of spades, or nil when they have the queen of spades! Who does that?! They take bags like it’s their job… but the most annoying thing is the minute long ads between rounds… I had to delete it. There’s nothing relaxing or fun about this game and the idiot computer.

Concrete SoftwareSeveral months ago I had to stop playing this game I used to play daily. Now, before you make the decision to blind nill…. You can’t see the other players cards. That daily challenges is in the way! Please allow that to be mimimized (more). Additionally, after guessing, you no longer have the option to exchange 2 cards and I no longer see this in the settings. This app has become unplayable. I keep checking back and thought I’d leave a review this time. I miss it!

As for 2 card pass on blind nil, this has been removed to enhance gameplay and leaderboards for all players. I paid for the ad free version but the developers changed it to ‘no options’ for ad free play. I wasn’t refunded anything for this change-seems a bit shady.
Next, the developers decided to add a bunch of additional advantages and benefits that aren’t part of an actual spades game.
Now the option to pass cards when bidding blind nil is gone. If you want to guarantee getting the ace of spades, bid blind nil.
What’s the next plan to make this app worse?

During play, the score isn’t shown. Since you are playing a game you should know the score at all times. Playing bots isn’t great fun, neither are these bots.
Per usual the programmers are inconsiderate and disrespect their users: you have to hit 4 to 5 different buttons just to get out of one ad.
You have to be very bored to download this app.

The only one I could find with variations of spades. Although the update made previously small and difficult or sometimes impossible to see cards easily visible, the ai is horrible! I’m trying to play the Whiz variation and they will bid nil while having 6 spades, it is actually happening often. My AI partner bid nil and ended up winning 7 tricks that hand. There is little to no strategy on covering a partners nil bid. Since the update, not a single game I have played has been won by reaching the point goal. Every single game ends with one team going out the back door or having less than negative 200 points.

I purchased the ad free version of Spades several years ago. Concrete software recently updated the Spades game and “forced” the new version on me (automatically updated the new game on my iPad). With the “new and improved” Spades game, I must watch ads to play the game.
I wrote to Concrete Software with my complaint and was basically told to “pound sand.” Concrete Software said it is not possible to play the old ad free game anymore and they do not offer an ad free option for the new game.
Certainly, I can’t be the only person that thinks it’s wrong for a company to take your money promising something, then updating their software and telling you what you purchased is no longer valid. Kind of a “bait and switch” concept. Did Concrete Software offer to refund my money, of course not.
Maybe if there are enough unhappy subscribers experiencing this problem Concrete Software will reconsider their policy.
