This app works well once you get it to connect with the M-480 via wireless. I use ad hoc mode, and it was fairly straightforward. Just make sure you have the latest firmware update for the M-480 installed, or it won't work.
Once it connects, the app does a good job controlling the M-480, but there are some issues in the way this app works - or doesn't work - with the other apps on your iPad. The main problem is that the wireless connection disconnects if ANYTHING else happens on the iPad. This includes going into AutoLock, any kind of alert from another application, a message, just about anything will break that connection.
I'm hoping that Roland will improve this app to address these problems. You shouldn't have to fix the connection every time you get an alert. I put the iPad into "Do Not Disturb" mode and turn off AutoLock manually, but there are some notifications that get through anyway, so that breaks the connection.
Roland, if you're paying attention, please consider the following improvements:
1. Option to disable AutoLock in the app.
2. Prevent disconnection when there is an alert or notification from another app
3. Allow the app to stay connected even when the iPad goes into AutoLock, as when a magnetic cover engages it.
Aside from those issues, this app works very well, and it's a major asset for the M-480. It's nice to be able to test and control the mixer board without having to run back and forth!
