Description of SymbolSupport

SymbolSupport is an iPad utility app that effortlessly adds symbols to text. As textis typed, symbols are automatically added above it. Text can also be copied from pre-existing written materials and pasted into SymbolSupport where symbols are instantly added. Documents are read with a high-quality text-to-speech voice and include word-by-word highlighting. This support helps students better understand class assignments.Symbols from Slater Literacy Support Pictures™ and Attainment’s Image Library are included. Plus, there is easy access to your camera roll and a built-in internet image search.Easy-to-use editing tools include changing auto-assigned symbols to other symbols or imported images and removing symbols from text to reduce the number of symbols on a page. SymbolSupport is designed to create symbolized text quickly and easily. Sharing these documents is equally important. Share documents via AirDrop, email, or send to any cloud storage setup on the iPad. Documents can be sent as a PDF for studentportfolios or shared with parents. Documents can also be sent as a SymbolSupport file which can be opened by SymbolSupport or SymbolSupport Lite apps. SymbolSupport Lite is a separate and free app. It can receive, read aloud, and print documents that have been created with the SymbolSupport app. SymbolSupport Lite cannot create or edit documents.

  • Can’t save as a PDF

This is a consistent issue with this app. I love the updates, it is more user friendly. The vocab is amazing. But if I can’t save documents as PDFs, they are useless to any student who does not have access to an Apple device. Once again, please fix. Give access to all.
  • Yay! It's back

I purchased this app to make books for my brother several years ago. I made a few books but then the app stopped working when I went back to it later. I contacted the company and they said it was on the back burner due to other projects and they had no immediate plans to update it. I was more than sad. Not only was it very expensive for a non-teacher but there was nothing else like it out there unless you purchase an even more expensive computer software.

Since they said it was only on the back burner and they plan to get back to it I have religiously checked back to see if it had been updated for about a year and then gave up. I recently was going through my purchase history for a different issue when I saw it and decided to check just in case. I can not explain how happy I am. I have not used it much yet and the interface is totally different than before but it's a product that just isn't available anywhere else and my brother needs symbols to read words until he learns them because he doesn't have the ability to understand phonetics.

    Yay! Thank you
