Buggy and non-playable
Great concept and sounds, but come on!
- when I play legato in 16 levels mode taking any of the notes off will cut them all off, uh? And then after it is recorded it sounds staccato anyway.
- cranky midi implementation: some of my midi-controllers just shut off the track they were used with, even pads on screen won't trigger any sound until restarting the app.
- no midi event editing. It should be either flawlessly playable or editable on a per note level to be usable.
- can't switch off community notifications?

Make creative beats anywhere!
I was excited when I heard about the release of this app. I was looking for a good app to help create beats that I could jam with but did not have the money to purchase an actual MPC. It gave me a look into the inside world of the MPC. I have had a blast so far learning how to create beats using the vast library of samples that you get with it. I encourage any musician who wants to take their beats deeper to download this app.

Amazing app for musicians
I think they have done an amazing job replicating the work flow of an MPC though a few more features would be good. It's a amazing start. The workflow so far is smooth and the sampling is very friendly and easy to use.
However there is a few things I'd like to see on the next update:
1. Linking pads together to you can play one pad at a time
2. Ability to zoom into waveform when cutting up samples
3. Being able to delete your own samples from within iMPC because I have played on it for a day cutting up samples and its taken up 700mb due to the .wav files

Awesome - True portable MPC
I love this app, well done Akai. I'm a true MPC fan and own 4 of them plus the XR 20. This thing is insane for the money, if only it was available a few years back. This should be perfect for on the road and live gigs for triggering samples. The sampling from your own library is great...nice touch. Love it!

Almost perfect
Great App! Have been on it constant since purchase. Have rated four stars would have been five but would have liked more export options like separate tracks and an option to upload to Dropbox or something. Part from that amazing App
Ok, but Not an MPC
EDIT: after downloading Tabletop, I'm updating my review. This app is much better with it since it provides solutions for its shortcomings. However, it's still missing rudimentary MPC features: chop, song mode (provided in Tabletop), and more than 4 tracks. It is missing other features that you take for granted in apps like this, like Dropbox support to manage samples.
It would be nice if you could load patterns into Tabletop that you create in the standalone version.
I must say that the sound quality is very good. However, it's a few updates away (hopefully) from being a real MPC.

Not what I Expected
So I thought, Wow! an official Akai MPC app and found that looks we're deceiving shortly after committing to the purchase. I currently own Beatmaker2 which is my go to production app and in comparison I can't help but think Akai dropped the ball on this one. The plus side is that I was able to launch the app and get right to work but, felt limited as I was attempting to move forward. So I can't figure out to to edit samples after I sample and assign them. How do you chop on this thing ? Where's the create new sound option from the trim screen ? I thought the iMPC app would simplify things like how Beatmaker2 has but, isn't even on par with the 2000XL. All in all I guess this is a cool drum machine for the price but, for full on sample based production...Not recommended ! 1 sample bank is not enough...at least the MPC 60 had 2. No filters or any of the staple MPC parameters (attack, decay, note mute) no trim screen. The only thing MPC like about this app is appearance... Not worthy of the MPC title. The sequencer is about the only thing I can recognize as being effective.
App is cool, almost good but, far from great.
Here's hoping that future updates will add some much needed features to bring this app closer to being included in the MPC legacy.

Boom!
Great job! I usually don t want to pay for apps, but this one rocks, first impression nearly perfect for me!
Loving it
Gotta agree with the announcements though they are annoying, they gotta....go plus could also do with some empty user slots for program's so don't have to edit the in built program's.....audiobus support is a must....overall a great app and well worth the money a must buy for anyone into composition as for the tabletop version it's a bit stripped down from the standalone app but gains midi editing in tabletop so still hot as hell ......nice one :)
