App constantly signs you out. The sign in fields don’t offer the option to sign in with facial recognition. When you open the app it will often stop the playback of anything you were listening to, even though there is no audio that plays within the app itself.
  • Stops music

  • Fix the "remove buddy"

  • Love the gym hate the app

The other night a friend mentioned that they’d been to the gym 60 times so far this year. I was curious to know my attendance so I went on the app to look. That’s when I realized that the app is missing a lot of basic functionality that, if added, would make the app more useful in day-to-day life.

First, a calendar that shows me what days I went to the gym, then click on to see more details like what time and how long I went for. A notes section would also be helpful so that I can track stats and improvement without using a different app.

I would like to see also more stats on average session duration, frequency tables for how likely I am to attend on each day of the week, etc. Currently I can’t even scroll back more than a few months!! Similar gyms do this kind of thing with their apps, I think PureGym needs to update with the times.

  • Best feature scrapped - Training plan disappeared

The best thing about this app for me was the training plan. This feature enabled you to set your goals and the app would create a “tailor-made” workout plan for you. You could see which exercises you had to do each day, how many reps per exercise and a timer to make sure you took the appropriate rest between reps. As someone with anxiety, not having to worry about what to do and having videos showing exactly what I needed to do was amazing. I’m an now say in the locker room of the gym without knowing what to do because this feature has just disappeared from the app. My husbands app as well. I know this might not be the worst thing for most people, but it is huge for me and it’s such a shame that such a great feature is now missing. Please bring it back, I’m sure there’s more people out there who appreciate the Training Plan as much as me. Thanks

  • Music

There are some instructors who play the music so loud in the classes that it makes working out almost unbearable. They seem to play it to please themselves with no consideration to their gym members requests to turn the music down. Some of instructors have to use a mike to be heard over the unbearable loudness of music and then have to shout out instructions to be heard. Some instructors completely disregard requests to turn the level of the music down and their replies are rude and dismissive. The gym caters for a client base of all ages. Some of the more mature clients find music playing loudly akin to an assault on their hearing as hearing get impaired with age. There are also younger members who feel the same. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE THE MUSIC SO LOUD to work out. If that was the case then it would be played at the level in all of the other ares of the gym - it would be akin to walking into a night club. PLEASE TURN THE MUSIC DOWN!

  • Unreal value

I’ve been a member for 15 months now and enjoy how convenient the 24 hour access is, plenty of equipment for all types of workouts, always people cleaning, and good self cleaning points, music could be of a slightly higher volume especially at weekend afternoons & evenings, staff are very helpful at the Halifax gym that I use, I notice that there are people from all walks of life, and all levels of fitness & I’ve never heard a single unpleasant remark about someone’s effort or appearance it’s truly inclusive, so if you are in anyway in two minds, don’t be the staff will help you with anything, they even gave me exercises to help a long running shoulder complaint that fixed my problem, all this and the price is the best out there 👍👍👍

  • App won’t update

I have multi access membership, so decided to use the one in Woolwich. I worked for about 1.5hrs, and only my way out I present the barcode like I always do, and it asked me to update my app. I clicked on update and it took me to the App Store which didn’t give me the option to update - it gave me the option to ‘open’ instead, and just kept tossing me back and forth. In the end a member of staff attended to me, and told me my mobile number was under someone else’s details. I’d never heard anything so ridiculous. I’ve been a pure gym member for 8 years now, and only just finding out that my membership is also being used by someone else who uses it in an area I have never heard off before. I got stock inside for 50mins, missing my appointment, as the staff said she needed to investigate. She insinuated I was using someone else’s membership. Shocking!!!

  • Buggy

The app generally works ok, I only really use it for gym access but predominantly I check how busy it is and try and plan my training week around this. I heavily rely on this feature because my local gym in Putney isn’t very big it gets so busy it is actually pointless even attempting to go If there are more than a certain number of members there. Getting a machine or bench is just impossible and would result in a lot of waiting around.
So the fact that this feature is limited and so glitchy can be really frustrating. Often the other days of the week aren’t clickable, and you can only look at the current day. So I can only plan on the day itself

There is also no y axis label on the graph so I had even a sense of what the number is on any given day.
