  • Don't Bother, What A Waste

I just downloaded and almost immediately deleted this app. The first review I read echoed my experience - result that had *nothing* to do with my search. I have a Buddy Guy album with a cover that I can't find anywhere - my search result for the image (Guy himself, on guitar) yielded: "The Last Of Us PS4 Game Case" … ???

I'm sure there must be other apps that actually deliver, seems like the creators spent most of their budget on advertising and Google searches.

    Don't waste your time.
  • Beautiful app that no longer works

Has not been updated in ages and it is a shame because this app is gorgeous with great performance. That is the only reason I gave it 3 stars. Based upon design and speed it would be a 5 star rating. It should probably be a 1 star rating because it doesn’t work but I love the design and speed of it so I can’t justify that. There is a data issue that prevents you from doing much. And the searches you are able to make don’t yield much in terms of results, rendering this virtually useless it seems.
  • Cannot focus on proper item to search

I have A photo of a machine embroidery I need to find. It’s on Etsy, buy that’s a big place. But it searched on a spot way down low on the photo, which wasn’t of much help. So I cropped the photo; still looked for a piece close to the bottom. I was trying to focus on the top part, but it really won’t allow that. You should be able to search on an entire photo, and if you have a clue as to where to find it, you should bd able to direct the search further. It really is a pretty bad app.
  • Not good for interior designers

Thought it might be helpful when a client finds an item they like but we don’t know the manufacturer. First photo I took was of a crystal light fixture, the app scanned it and showed me options for white wall shelves. Second pic was of an iron chandelier, it showed me wine racks. Third picture I took was of a candle in a white and gold metal tin with the brand name showing. It read it as blue and white ceramic jar. Deleted the app after that.
  • And I thought it couldn’t get any worse…

When I first downloaded this app it wasn’t bad, but now... it is terrible!! It can’t recognize ANYTHING! If I were the app developers; I would be TOTALLY embarrassed!!! Like I said...and I didn’t think it could get any worse, but it is unfathomable JUST HOW bad it has gotten. Will be deleting app.
On second thought, I might keep it around so when I do something to make me feel stupid...I can comeback to this app...get my drift?
  • Very first version was great- Now its Pure Garbage!

The very first versions of this app worked great and were very Accurate. Now its garbage and not worth using.

The app can no longer even get the simplest of objects correct even when the object has its name and function printed on it.

The object recognition engine seems to have gotten a lobotomy
since its first versions and miss-identifies the type of object most of the time now. Text recognition seems to be completely missing or so messed up that it is now nonfunctional.

The old version recognized any text on the object and used that info along with its object recognition and was able to obtain very accurate descriptions of the object including brand names and accurate function along with pertinent search link suggestions for similar objects.
The current version of this app no longer functions with any semblance of accuracy or repeatability. Pure junk now!
  • Usually in general

I got this app because google apps sent available for me - this was the next best recommended thing. I have lots of car stuff - emblems, rims, hubcaps, and even a few parts in general- when I scanned them, a GMC rim brought up 2019 gmc trucks for sale. A fiesta emblem, clear plastic all there brought up Fieta. Not fiesta. Fieta. But it isn't completely useless, it brought up year ranges for a few, I have yet to check them though.
  • Not accurate at all, except the UPC searches.

I am using an iPhone X, and CamFind version 5.0.5
I tried with taking a picture of the box for earplugs named Eargasm. The box is blue/green with the large words EARGASM EARPLUGS. And the results was: Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime box (epic fail!)
I tried my coffee maker that also has the name of the brand (KitchenAid) at the top of the coffee maker and resulted with another fail but not as bad. It came back with a Keurig one time and Hamilton Beach another, at least it was correct about the device type. I was hoping this would be much more accurate then it is. Maybe someday a app will be created that can do what this app try’s to do.
(2/5 Stars since it’s a good UPC search engine.)
  • Don’t waste your money

We bought a house and the previous owners left behind some random things, including hardware items that I don’t know what they are. Was a little skeptical after reading reviews but decided to give it a shot. It thought this small plastic jar opener or wrench looking thingy (about 6 inches long) was a hover/self balancing board, a brass fitting a vaping device, and this black and white fitting was called a black and white tool. When I changed the angle of the pic, it the became a black and white USB cable (this thing is an inch or bigger in circumference). It correctly identified my sunglasses, though!!! I get it’s not going to be perfect, but thought I’d at least get on the right track to then find the right object. Oh well, technology can’t do it all!
  • Not sure why this has a low rating

This blew my mind, it even recognized a contemporary abstract painting by an unknown artist that hangs in our apartment as an abstract painting, whereas other image-recognition software I’ve tried out either just gives up or gets weird/obscure ones like that hilariously wrong. It even detected that a generic black sweater I was wearing in a photo was a man’s sweater (my boyfriend’s; I’m a girl), though I guess it saw I was a girl and switched the results to “woman” at the last moment. Anyway I’m really impressed. Great tool for consumers and those just generally curious about the objects around them in the world.
