I have used this app for many hard to find items. I use this app first, I do not look at any of my store apps. You can use a stored photo, or take a picture and get great results.
If you are trying to take a picture of something for it to specifically identify, look somewhere else. All this app does is search something anyone with eyes could search. For example: I was trying to take a picture of a hot wheels car to find the set it came from top fix a part from that set. I took a picture of the car from a good, close up angle to get a good result. All it did was look up "black, red, car". Yeah, I figured that much. Now WHAT is this "black, red, car" from? This app is only helpful for blind people.
When google goggles had an app for iOS it worked flawlessly. I read a few articles online about this app and how it is supposed to be better than google goggles but they must have been paid off to write those articles because this app is complete garbage. I took a few pictures all of which the results came up wrong. A workout machine resulted in an AC helicopter, taking a picture of the Mac Apple resulted in Apple Boxes, a one of a kind structure located in Orange County resulted in “red frame decor”.... garbage app. Don’t waste your time.
I use CamFind when I want to read labels. However, it will describe everything but the the text of the label. it'll tell me the color of my counter, the color of the label etc. things that are not helpful to me. It would help if these kind of features could be improved.
On a whim I decided to try this app to help me identify antique items. I was impressed at the technology behind this app and how well it performed. I'm not about the accuracy but with time I will be able to come to a conclusion on that. Thanks to the developers.
While it's simple nice and neat, you don't exactly get the actual picture or anything related to the picture besides being the same color.
If you post a picture with a pink and yellow flower, it will say analyzing and then say- "searching Pink and Yellow Peddled Flower"
Which is what you can do easily on google with your voice. No need for picture. There is no specific picture it sends me actually related to the flower I posted. This app is a bit useless.
This app is great, it works great on Apple iOS, with a clear camera shot with good lighting it will find what I'm looking at and gives an accurate search to various websites and/or stores to search for the product that I'm seeking.
Recently I was trying to search a specific object. So I searched the Apple App Store and discovered "CamFind". This App unfortunately could not specifically pinpoint my object which ended up being a roofing nail that is actually used in a roofing nail gun. However I started using the App which utilizes your phone camera to identify other things and it is about 98-99% full proof, right down to make and model numbers. It also gives you places where items are purchased. It can be absolutely amazing and extremely handy.
CamFind is a great App. I became totally blind about a year ago. It is is direct, simple and intuitive. A lot of Apps get wordy and then you lose your train of thought of what you are doing. It is great for identifying clothes and especially food items and takes you to more info on the web.
I have had this program for over two years. My success rate is zero.
Two examples:
1). I took a clear and accurate picture of a Lalique bowl (crystal) I have had for over 30 years. The result I got was ceramic bowl, similar items were ceramic pieces.
2). I took a picture od a titanium ring with 2 3/4 karat diamonds. I putbit on a black countertop, a brown book and on my finger. The picture was clearly of the ring. I got back "black surface", "brown surface" and "human hand".
I have tried this over 25 times and never got a true result.
The best? A picture of an older man, in religious attire, looking to the sky, praying: "Old Man In Hoodie".
Nuff said. Anyone know of a good program?
