  • Unimpressed

Very limited features. This is not enough to be considered a professional tool. I found myself moving to my keyboard so often that my workflow was considerably slowed down. (It doesn't even have 'save').
It also caused my router to crash every time I turned it on. I contacted the company about this issue and they took two months to respond, saying only that it wasn't their fault. At this point I asked for a refund and they just told me to contact Apple. Apple said too much time had passed and they would no longer allow a refund...convenient

  • Cash and Crash

I finally got an iPad mini G1 with iOS 9.1.3 dedicated for two things. Control my digital audio mixer and transport controls for my NLE’s. I downloaded the app and mac client, linked up and purchased the controller before I buy the more expensive Editor versions. NOTHING! The app crashes every single time on load. So far, unless its fixed or updated. I RECOMMEND AGAINST THIS APP.

  • Best editing companion EVER!!!

This app rocks. Period. Easy access to all tools needed for editing, if using a trackpad add on as a mouse it flows like a painter on canvas, great performance with minor to no bugs. Being version 1.0 it is fantastic! Would recommend 10/10.
  • Worthless

Bought the app for an old iPad mini and it worked great until they upgraded it. Then it stopped working and all I got from the makers is that they were sorry and were working on it. I bought a new iPad mini4 and tried to download, but had to pay another 30 bucks. Reloaded everything and while I get a green bar NOTHING works. Hours of frustration and now they have 60 bucks and I have nothing. Avoid at all costs.

  • Fun and easy to use

I have no idea what the previous reviewers are talking about. The app installed easily and effortlessly on my iPad 4 and my Mac Pro. This app is a controller for the basic shuttle functions of FCP X. It is not meant to be an editor. That's what the FCP interface is for. This app is just for getting around quickly, scrubbing, zooming, etc, and it does it very well. Just set your iPad up next to your keyboard and mouse, and you have a nice little virtual transport for your virtual video editor.

  • Broken.

This app used to work. Ive tried several times to make it work again... Hard resets, reinstalls, restarts, and despite that something makes the fcp x video editor crash. I can only hope it gets fixed cuz it's quite an awesome concept.
  • Never even got it to install.

Tried 3 times to install this on my iPad Air 2. Each time, the sync process would just hang about halfway through. Finally gave up. Too bad.
  • Most amazing app for video and photo editors

As an avid filmmaker and photographer, I use Final Cut Pro X and Lightroom more than any other programs on my computer. When I found this app, I was so incredibly excited, but wasn't sure what to expect from the few videos I could find online showcasing the features of the apps. I took a chance and bought the Final Cut Pro Editor and Lightroom Sorter interfaces, and have been extremely impressed with both of them, especially the new Lightroom Sorter interface.

I do agree that the Final Cut Pro Editor interface could be a little more full featured, but at the same time I think it would be impossible to make an interface that would allow you to completely separate yourself from the keyboard and mouse for video editing like Lightroom Sorter is able to do for Lightroom's Library module. Still, with some effort I've managed to work the FCP Editor interface into my editing workflow and found a number of ways to speed up my editing, it just took a little time to get used to. Now I wouldn't edit without it. As for Lightroom Sorter, it's such a great way to sort through photos in your library. I came to Lightroom after using Aperture for years, and never really liked the shortcuts for Lightroom. This allows me to not only forget about shortcuts (in the Library module at least... and I have a graphics tablet with assignable buttons that I use for my shortcuts in the Develop module), but to put away the mouse and keyboard and sort through Lightroom with just my iPad and monitor, and to use simple finger gestures to do most of the work. Really impressed, and looking forward to future updates!

By the way, in regards to Merlin Creative's remarks about having problems with the setup, I would try contacting Ctrl+Console's customer support on their website. They were super responsive and helpful the one time I had to contact them about getting an interface to unlock on the home screen of the app.

  • Total Disaster...

It actually worked well at some point... Opened it today and app asked me to upgrade the app in my computer for this version. Installed on my MacBook Pro as instructed and opened iPad app... Well, tried to... Screen goes black, main iPad screen returns eventually. Hit home button twice, app appears to be hiding. Appears to be connected to my Mac as it's supposed to. But when I select FCP controller, screen goes BLACK... Eventually order is restored. Again app is hidden... REPEAT. I tried deleting and reinstalling to no avail. I feel frustrated and ripped off!!! Maybe developer did what others are doing and upgraded their app to only work on iPad Pro? But I see no message to that effect. FAIL!

  • Not useful for a pro editor

I started on tape to tape systems. I know what a simple video edit control should have. This doesn't do it. Too few controls. This is made to only do iMovie level editing in a pro app. Functions don't seem to work right. I'm not seeing any customization. Seriously - I get why we used to have a big stop button when we had video decks back in the day, but come on- what a waste of UI space. And a waste of $30.
