Description of Alarm That Talks

Do you use alarms extensively? Do you have multiple alarms one after another? If so, this app might help you. Regular alarm applications are useful when we have time to look at our phones. However, when the alarm rings you might be driving, cooking, or too far from the phone to check it. It would be very helpful if the alarm could speak to you what the reminder is about. For example, if you need to go to the pharmacy the alarm can say “Go to Pharmacy”. When that happens you will immediately be reminded of the task you need to do and will be less likely to forget it. That is what Alarm That Talks does. Our app has an interface very similar to iPhone’s Clock app to make it easier to use. You can set the day and time when you would like the alarm to sound. If you like you can make it play music just like in the regular iPhone alarm. However, if you choose “None” corresponding to “Sounds”, this app will speak the label you wrote. The speaking of the label is repeated 5 times with a slow pace to make it easier to understand. Between every repetition the app will say “Hello” to draw attention. We found that the most effective way to use the alarm is in conjunction with iPhone’s own alarm. Simply make the same alarm that is in your regular Clock app in the Alarm That Talks. Then move the reminder one minute ahead. For example, if you have a 5:15 P.M. appointment on the Clock app, make one for 5:16 P.M. on Alarm That Talks. When your regular alarm rings you can make it snooze by pressing the side button on your phone. After one minute it will be time for Alarm That Talks to speak out the label. That way you will be immediately notified of what needs to be done. We use this app to manage our time and hope that it will help you as well.

Reviews of Alarm That Talks

  • It works if done right

At first didn’t work but later I played with the notification settings and it started working. Remember, this is technically a notification app, not alarm. You need to give it permission somewhere in the settings. Also, it works best when the phone screen is locked. When you are using the phone for videos etc. it is muffled. I found it very useful. Much better than alarms that keep going. This one will repeat what you wrote about 8 times and then stop. I was able to make it loud enough to hear while driving. There could be more updates on it but remember this is still the Beta version. If there is enough interest they might invest in an upgrade.
  • App doesn't work

I have set up every way (and there are very settings) but it hasn't worked once. Too bad. It seemed just what I was looking for. Can anyone an app that does work, please? TY
