It took me awhile to manage to scan my passport (USA), but I got it done and I want to help other people. For USA passports, the chip is located in the back cover. I took off my phone case and held my phone at around 30 degrees to the inside of the back cover. I held the top of my phone which is an iPhone 11 on the middle right of the cover. The loading screen will have different text when it starts to scan, no vibration, and hold it there until you get a checkmark. Good luck!Frazzled Frequent Flyer

I finally was able to register my US Passport in this app after spending an hour on scanning passport 🧐
1. Take off your phone case.
2. Scan on the very back page with the barcode at about 30 degree angle.
3. Move your iPhone just above the barcode very slowly if 2. did not work or change angles slowly.
