Reviews of Onward

  • Some good things but doesn't really match the system Calendar widgets

    The good:
- It shows the event that is currently taking place (Apple Calendar doesn’t do that)
- It shows all-day events individually (Apple Calendar doesn’t do that)

The bad:
- It doesn’t fully “match system Calendar widgets” as explained in the description of the app
- All the fonts are way smaller than the system Calendar widget and the colors could improve too to replicate the system Calendar widgets
- The small/medium widgets have a different size font if compared to the large widget - The picture in the app page doesn’t reflect that
- The medium widget doesn’t have an option for only list view (the calendar on the right side end up to block some of the text of the events)
- When pressing the event that shows in the widget, opens the Onward app and then opens the calendar app (most likely a limitation of the iOS 17, but no documentation mentioning that)
- When adding a new event into the calendar, the widget don’t reflect that event - It did update if I remove the widget and add it again (probably a widget refresh limitation of the iOS 17, but no documentation mentioning that)
  • The right idea, nicely executed

    Requests:

    1. let me explicitly exclude certain calendars and lists, instead of having to select to include.

    2. Do not start the Onward App when clicking on the widget. Only start open Calendar or Reminders.

    3. Let me explicitly set my week start to Monday.

    4. Let me use 24hr time
