Controller?
Honestly, everything about monster Hunter now is what I needed and one hand to enjoy the series when I’m not playing it on the console. But if we could get controller support like the Backbone, I would enjoy this game a lot more.
Amazing Game, One Issue.
I love this game. I’ve always loved games like Pokémon GO, they’re just fun to me. However, unlike Pokémon GO, this game doesn’t just warn you about playing while driving, it entirely restricts your gameplay if you’re moving too fast. The idea is to stop people from playing and driving, but in reality, this only hurts passengers. Even if you hit the “I am not a driver” prompt, your gameplay remains restricted. Drivers can just be jerks on the road, holding at a light longer than they should just to continue playing. But passengers have no control over whether or not they can play the game at all. Please, for the sake of everyone who plays this awesome game, change this. I’d rather the speed warning appear every 5 seconds and annoy me repeatedly than not be able to play at all, especially because, also unlike Pokémon GO, when you sit still, there’s no way for you to do anything, you have to just wait until a monster spawns on you. In Pokémon GO, there’s incense. In JW Alive, there’s scents. In MH Now, there’s nothing, no way of attracting monsters to you more often. I rarely walk anywhere because I don’t have the freedom and time to walk, so I’m always either unable to play because I’m sitting still and there’s nothing to do, or unable to play because I’m moving too fast even though I’m just a passenger 95% of the time.

Surprisingly robust but …
Also unsurprisingly stingy, and not even in a way it needs to be. I get it is a mobile game and in fact bought a pass already for it to support it. The two biggest issues by far I have with the game are the material drops from monsters and not being able to freely travel between biomes. The reasons for this is the game artificially imposes nonsensical goals on you (slay “x” number of monsters in Forest habitat, for example). I have no problem walking all over the place, but unless you happen to walk where the game geographically demands you walk that triggers said Forest biome, you’re not completing that goal and thus advancing your campaign. You’re effectively stuck.
Second, material rarity is tied to monster tier, i.e., tougher the monster, the higher (rarer) the material that drops from monsters after a successful hunt. The problem with this is you can target a high tier monster (since you need that monster’s material to forge stronger weapons and armor) yet upon defeat of blue tier monster, you’ll instead receive basic tier 1 material at a disproportionate rate than what you would expect, even from a mobile game. I shouldn’t hunt rarity 6 monsters, only to commonly receive rarity 1 and 2 material. It’s insulting and doesn’t respect player commitment to the game. Throw us a bone here.
Tweak the drop rate and allow the player to more easily complete their campaigns and this game gets an EASY 5 stars.

I am not a driver
But the game became unplayable when i was a passenger in the car even though i pressed the button declaring i am not a driver. Thats a bit sad because I really do want to play it but sometimes I cover more ground ( mining points ) on the way to the grocery store compared to walking around the neighborhood. Whats the point in opening the app if I can’t do anything under those circumstances.

Save your money
Inventory is too small and armor and weapon upgrades require just shy of 200 specific materials per level up at end game. With 30+ monsters to grind for, the game practically forces you to spend IRL money just on INVENTORY space.
Monster Hunter in name only
To put it simply, this game is the complete antithesis of what the Monster Hunter franchise has been for the last 20 years. You cannot choose what you hunt, it has to randomly spawn on the map. You need an exorbitant number of specific and often high rarity materials that will never drop for every single minuscule upgrade, which also makes crafting a full set of armour downright impossible. You are rushed with barely a minute for each hunt, which only gets worse when monsters begin to stun you with roars and do attacks where they become unhittable (looking at Diablos). Zenny has practically no function and yet we’re given mountains of it for every task as if it means something. The monetisation is pretty horrendous, with every consumable costing premium currency and no way to slowly earn it for free like there is in other Niantic games.
Edit: Opened the game on a whim after 8 months of not playing only to find that almost none of the issues above have been addressed. The only one that was, targeted hunts, was implemented in an uninteresting way that only continues to reward people living in dense populations. The rest are completely untouched or have actively gotten worse.

Constant lag after recent update
This game lags no matter its on wifi or data. It’s not the connect to the server that’s lags the game. It’s the app that lags, can’t play without fixing this issue.
Game breaking bug
Monster hunter now logged me out of my account this morning which was backed up by my email. When entering log in details it says that I need to confirm the registration status of the account however I haven’t received any email asking me to confirm anything and I have now lost all my progress. I genuinely loved this game and me and my boyfriend play it daily. I’ve heard others have the same issue and it fixes when you reset your password for about a day. This is genuinely such a ridiculous bug and I can’t imagine I will be as motivated to play the game now. Other than this it’s great! But this is incredibly frustrating and such a huge bug which should’ve been fixed ages ago.

Great contender to Pokémon Go
Just to start with, for anyone looking for a true monster hunter experience, this won’t be it.
If you enjoy the monster hunter universe and also like mobile AR games like Pokemon Go then you’ll like this. My only complaint is the cash shop is very expensive and if you run out of your daily potions you will have to wait until your hp very slowly heals to 20% to hunt again, or you can buy the VERY expensive health potions in the store.
If they balanced the cash shop items a bit better and maybe made the gems obtainable at a very slowly pace for loyal players then this would be mobile game of the year every year for me.

Been playing since inception
Been playing since the game came out. Most issues such as drop rate, monster resets, potions, etc have been addressed already.
I wish developers would allow you to select to delete on the drops from when u perform a kill. Ex. Kill pukei-pukei, drops 5 rarity 1s, and 2 tails. Select the rarity 1s to delete right off the same completed/rewards screen
