Description of Orthodox Bible

The Orthodox Bible mobile app for every Orthodox Christian! This app is the perfect resource for those who want to study and explore the Orthodox Christian faith. With the Orthodox Bible app, you can access the full text of the Old and New Testament. The app also includes daily readings and a Orthodox Calendar of feasts and fasts, making it easy to stay connected to your faith every day. The Orthodox Bible app is an essential tool for everyone going through their own spiritual journey. Features: Daily readings Daily prayers: morning, meal and evening prayers Audio Psalms The translation of the Old Testament from the Septuagint into English is a process that involves both linguistic expertise and a deep understanding of the historical and cultural context of the original texts. The Septuagint, often abbreviated as LXX, is an ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, specifically the Old Testament, which holds significant importance in the history of biblical scholarship. Use this app to track the dates of other religious holidays in the Orthodox calendar such as Christmas, Epiphany, Theophany, and the Dormition of the Theotokos. These holidays are based on the liturgical Orthodox calendar, which is a cycle of readings and liturgical services that are used in the Orthodox churches. The liturgical Orthodox Calendar follows the same patterns and themes throughout the year, and it is closely tied to the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Why follow the Orthodox calendar: mindfulness and introspection, humility recognizing one's own smallness in the grand scheme of God's plan and purpose. - Build discipline and routine in one's spiritual practice - Foster a deeper sense of connection to the divine - Take time to reflect on the sacrifices and teachings of Jesus Christ by observing religious holidays - Foster a sense of community and shared spiritual practice with other Eastern Orthodox believers. The Orthodox calendar, also known as the Julian calendar, is the calendar used by many Eastern Orthodox churches around the world to determine the dates of religious holidays and observances. It is based on the Julian calendar, which was introduced by Julius Caesar in 45 BC and is currently 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar. The Orthodox calendar has different dates for Easter and other religious holidays, which are based on the liturgical calendar. It is an important part of the religious tradition and culture of the Eastern Orthodox churches. The Orthodox calendar is currently 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar, which is widely used in the Western world. This difference is due to the fact that the Orthodox churches did not adopt the Gregorian calendar, which was introduced in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII as a reform of the Julian calendar. The Gregorian calendar has a leap year rule that eliminates the accumulated error of the Julian calendar, so the Orthodox church still use the Julian calendar. The Orthodox calendar follows the same month names as the Julian calendar, which are: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. However, the Orthodox calendar has different dates for Easter, which is the most important religious holiday for Christians. The Orthodox Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox. This is different from the Western Easter, which is always celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox. Reviews of Orthodox Bible

Frustrated

First, I do love the app and it’s great for me as I’m on the go quite a bit. The one thing I do not like and the reason for three stars is when I go to read the Bible I have to scroll down so much to get to the chapter and verse I want to read. Why can’t this app be like every other Bible app where I can choose the chapter and verse to go to and read. Too much scrolling is very annoying. Please consider fixing this as this would make it more appealing for me to subscribe for more benefits. God bless! ☦️

Response from developer

Thank you for reaching out for support on the Orthodox Bible and prayers app. We understand your frustration. Rhdwright, do you want to have this 'mini search' option when you are already reading the bible in the reader page? There is an option there for more menu options we can add the functionality there. If you don't have time to respond to us here, we'll add it there so it will offer easier navigation within the bible chapters. Alternatively until we release the new version there is a work around for now and you can use the 'Search' tile on the main page of the app. If you think of anything else, please let us know, we'd love to help alleviate your frustrations. Please reach out to us at our support email listed in our app store page or from the link in the settings page inside the app. You can also update this review. May God Bless you immensely!

Bad

First thing when I open the app instead of going to the Bible, it has a splash screen with an Icon of Christ that says “be good, God is watching”. That immediately annoyed me. Then began the questions, what am I using this app for, notifications, premium purchases, etc.

I never actually got to the Bible. Just when I thought I was about to: an ad for a gambling app pops up and fills the entire screen, no way to exit out, just have to sit and watch.

Avoid at all costs.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback of the Orthodox Bible and prayers app. We loved your review, it is sincere and honest and we know where you're coming from. And we see the passion in you so we're happy to see that you took the time to give us your honest opinion and review. We dislike the ads too. Sadly, we have to use ads in the free version to offset the costs of developing and maintaining this app. I wish we could do it our selves or with the help of supporters but we're not there yet. It is our goal to soon remove all ads from the app soon. Many people do not know but we have to pay Apple each year just to keep it listed in the store. If we don't pay they shut the app down. Did you try an ad-free trial we offer? You can get a full refund if you still don't like the Orthodox app. All proceeds go back right back into the app. We'd also like the app to be ad-free, but Christian apps are not free to develop, maintain, and keep in the app stores. And, many other apps are supported by mega churches with large budgets & we are not. We love the Orthodox app it is a pure joy and we will continue to make it better. We hope you give it a try again. We do our best, but until we have the resources to help cover expenses, it's the best we can do. May God Bless you immensely!
