The Abbotsford website encourages you to download the app ahead of the visit. This in theory allows you to tour the house listening to the audio guide on your own phone and headphones. However, the WiFi in the house is so poor that each section of the audio guide drops out after 30 seconds or a minute, making for a very frustrating experience.
Also when we arrived at the house the volunteers in the house were only vaguely aware of what they called “the local app” and seemed to be saying that the Bloomberg Connects app was a better option. When we asked them for the password to access the room guide on the Abbotsford app this threw them into a panic although they did come up with it quite quickly after making a phone call.
