Pretty amazing
I couldn’t figure out how to get past the instructions which is a feature that might need to be modified but the results are pretty amazing. Looking forward to testing it out with various products.studiomontor
Abhorrently Expensive
I’m a creative director who began as a graphic designer with over 20 years of experience. I have more subscriptions than I can count to all sorts of design, 3D scan/modeling, AR, photo/video editing and AI apps. I am an expert in almost every adobe application and I stay up to date on the latest releases and updates from multiple developers because the only way to be good at my job is to know know what’s out there, what’s possible and how quickly can something get done while maintaining a pre determined quality standard. AND this is my first review I’ve ever written. I say all this to hopefully establish some credibility when reading my review. This app is grossly overpriced. It works in credits or a subscription that comes with credits but that’s a laugh when you do the math. Here’s the breakdown: 1 Credit = 1 scan which then becomes 1 video You are given 1 Credit at sign up for free Want more credits? Well… 3 Credits = $39.99 5 Credits = $59.99 But wait what about the subscription? If you subscribe you save a whopping $10 at the monthly rate which is: Sub one month - 5 Credits = $49.99 Or pay for a year up front for $379.00 and still only get 5 credits a month… well can you export? yes for one credit… Polycam is the leader in this space, they did it first and offer this exact feature as apart of their monthly subscription and you can do 100 other crazy things with your scan as well. You get 99 scans a month for only $24.99. Exporting is obviously included and you get it in any resolution and in any format you want. This app is a joke and the UI looks like it’s for 5 year olds because they are targeting the people who think 3D scanning/animation is up there with rocket science and brain surgery but might run an Etsy shop or sell things online a lot and so the “it’s so easy look at the soft corners and happy vibe and big colorful buttons” kind theme is meant to make you think you’ve got this and won’t question the price. Polycam is just as easy it’s the same process, very easy and you don’t have to feel like a grownup drinking a monster energy when you use it. So guys I’m sorry to just go off on you like this but come on.. times are hard enough we don’t need this, nobody does. Get competitive or get lost when the literal endless competitors you have out there just decide to add this function to their already far cheaper subscription models.Show lesslolpostmatessucks

Original answer (Apr 24) Hi, I’m Remi one of the founders of the company behind Doly. Thanks for the sincere feedback, we appreciate you took the time to write this extensive review, especially since you have a great background in creative tools. We also have good experience in the 3D creative industry and our objective with Doly has been to democratize 3d creation and tools to a different audience that doesn't have access to such tools : merchants. We are doing this by simplifying scanning : you say our UI looks like it's for 5 years old ; I hope it means a 5 year old can use it, which is our objective indeed. We also provide an output that can be usable directly by non-experts and doesn't need to be brought into another 3D software, which is not the case with most scanning apps. We don’t consider Doly to be “just” a scanning app though, as we are providing extensive and complex post-processing (object segmentation) and of course artistic integrations. We work with 3D artists to build good scenes useful for ecommerce pros and enable an artistic output and not just a technical one. Pricing is a complex matter : we are experimenting with this, and things might evolve in the future. We discussed with a lot of merchants about the fair value of a good ecommerce video/creative value, and it is quite high. Professional looking videos for product pages cost usually more than 100$ a pop. We don’t really consider Polycam (that we love!) as a competitor, but mostly services like Soona or Saavy where a creative can easily cost 500$ ; they deliver the same output as we do, but we do it for a fraction of the price. Nice app
Very interesting app, it makes you "scan" your product by taking photos on different angles and can then generate professionnal-looking videos. My first scan was not great but the second one was much better! Scanning takes a bit of time but the experience is niceLikitolll
First time I try something like this
This app is super impressive. This is the first time I see this capability in any app. I was able to make a cool video for my product in 1hr and choose from a variety of templates. The processing time is a bit long for now I feel, I wish it could be faster!nallat1
Great App, but Pay Attention!
Conceptually, Doly is extremely innovative and paves the way for small businesses to further their accessibility to higher quality forms of content creation on a budget. Leveraging the latest in 3D and AI technology, Doly really is a great way to show off certain products, buts it’s imperative to pay attention to the guides and understand, fundamentally, how it works.
Doly uses advanced forms of 3d scanning to create a digital replica of your product. All things equal, these 3d scanning techniques, all of them, are never going to be perfectly, 100% accurate and realistic, so it’s imperative that you understand this point. On the flip side, all things equal, the cost to a small business owner to leverage and learn Doly is significantly less than the cost of a professional animator who would charge, easily $500 + for the work Doly produces.
