  • Great Educational Game

As a mining engineer myself, I thought it was pretty cool to see a game like this! I stumbled upon it while walking around the CIM convention in Vancouver this year.

The game is smooth overall but I did encounter a few bugs. One major bug was the open pit mine commodity circle continued spin but the open pit animations/graphics stalled (no trucks going in and out of the pit).

Loved the game overall, excited to see any new updates/expansions/features.

  • Lots of Potential but Needs Work

It’s a fun game, but probably better to advertise as “Early Access”. There are still a lot of game breaking bugs that make it so that you have to start over before really even getting into the game, and the AI and tuning need work just in general.

    Bugs I’ve found so far:
    - Ontario Mine site no longer produced any ore, even though there was still ore showing available on the “choose a Mine” screen. Open pit and underground effected. (after I entered the hydrogen age and closed the game for the night I think)
    - Nunavut Mine would no longer load.
    - UI - education po-up text is too long for the boxes so it cuts off even if you scroll.

    Recommendations
    - Turn down base ore generation from all mine types. It disrupts engagement to have to build at least 2 (usually 3) processing plants for every mine
    - Encourage players to start with Ni instead of Pb because Pb unlocks even more production which only makes the mine overproducing worse
    - add an exit button from the Ore Upgrade menu (or make it more obvious if there is one) I ended up tapping the “Build” button because I couldn’t find any other way to close it
    - add a “share current save” with the big reporter so people can just share their current file for troubleshooting

    Wins
    - the graphics are cute and fun
    - the game is nice for a idler
    - an awesome way to keep kids busy for a little while
    - the educational facts are cute and fun
    - it’s got a lot of potential

    Nice to Have
    - Slower progression overall
    - Different Environment and Public buildings for different locations that better demonstrate how mines actually contribute to their local communities across Canada
    - Different backgrounds for different locations (tundra in Nunavut, forest in BC, Mountains in AB, lakes in Ontario etc.)

    Hope this helps!

  • Incredible idea - so glad to see this brought to life!

I’m a Mining Engineer from Canada and the idea of building such a game to share a taste of what kind of challenges we encounter has been on my mind for a long time- I’m thrilled to see it brought to life in Mine Evolution! I can vouch that this is the most realistic game I’ve seen so far in this domain. I was disappointed to find that there don’t seem to be any Oilsand mining levels, though I would be happy to provide input from my 20+ years working in this specific area to help in developing this content- please reach out to me directly. There are a few spelling / grammar mistakes that I noticed in my first play through that unfortunately made the game look less incredible than it deserves- I expect correcting this should be pretty straightforward with AI copilot tools available.

  • Too many bugs

This game is full of bugs, it seems that the developers never tried it. To bad because it it an interesting concept.

  • Fun game but lots of glitches

Fun game but I find the open pit mines are glitchy and only run for a short period of time and there is still lots of ore showing that it is left but it stops mining even when there is rock waiting to be picked up in the pit. A set of instructions would be useful too. Also I set the volume to low and next time I open the app it’s gone back to max volume.

It is fun but the glitches make me frustrated. Tried restarting the game and even reinstalling and still having issues. :( on an iPhone 13 Pro.
