Far too many bugs

I’ve give 3 stars because this product and the app have promise but on my iPad I am frustrated by the large number of bugs.

I have provided a long list to Roland tech support several weeks ago, who have been very understanding but unable to resolve yet. They said the issues will have to go back to the Japanese development team to fix.

In the meantime, daily practicing with a backing track is annoying to say the least.

Awesome piece of gear!

For the price point of the KatGO, the complainers want what you would get out of a unit 5 times the cost. Ignore them. I’ve owned Boss gear since 1985, trust me when I say that technology and convenience has come a
L O N G way. Following the connectivity instructions to a “T” via Bluetooth is vitally important, if not then you’re “dead in the water” so to speak.
The mere fact of dialing in 60 onboard Boss effects via phone or tablet precisely how you want and whenever you want without wires and cables or bulky pedalboard is appreciated beyond measure!

I completely love and appreciate that I can import my Katana 100 head mkII .tsl patches to the KatGO via iCloud and they sound EXACTLY like I was plugged into my studio with headphones.

As for the complainers that want more than what Boss claims it would do, just simply ignore (they didn’t contribute a single thing towards the development and implementation of the KatGO nor the lines of code used).

Follow the instructions on setup EXACTLY as worded. I didn’t the first try and automatically determined it was user error and not flawed technology. I followed exactly the second time and it works flawlessly now.

Nt katanas boss tone

Did not work for me so I just deleted it

Portrait only mode.

I really wish it’s available in both landscape and portrait. It’s so limited when I use it with my iPad.

Love it

Best money I have spent on a tool to help me practice.

It has something for everyone. I personally use the presets and just use my guitar controls with the katana go volume knob to do tweaks. I love this as I personally don’t want to mess around with settings in the app too much right now. There is a ton of features in there to mess with when I do get to that point but I love that it’s optional.

Sessions is where I do use the app a lot. It allows me to add tracks that I want for practicing. Some really great features in there for marking points in a track and tempo control. For me I just created playlists in Apple Music and then sync them to my phone. From there I can import tracks in and use them for practice. I have also used web links and it worked as I expected.

Librarian is great for saving tweaks as presets that I can use again later. Also being able to just jump back to the presets on the device is great. I have not messed with many of the user created sets but I have downloaded all the Boss ones and they are very fun. I mostly stick to the presets that came on the device though.

Used tone studio to download all the boss created sets. I find it fun to swap it up a little from time to time.

My general workflow is using the built in tuner before playing, selecting my preset from the device, opening sessions, and running through tracks I am practicing. I switch from sessions to using a metronome app on my phone.

All this is super simple and makes practicing very easy to do. Super minimal and mobile solution that covers all my needs.

I hope they do sort the Katana Go out in the future and offer it again. I am a hobbyist and do not really need an amp for my needs, but this checks all the boxes in what I was always looking for.

Not working at all.

After the last update it no longer works on my iPhone 6. Thanks for that!

Core features still missing

So, the GO was discontinued due to manufacturing issues, but the app is indicating that in June there will be an update to enable sharing and downloading of user presets. Well, it’s just about the end of June and no update yet. Will this be abandoned?

Why no USB option for Katana 50 Mkii?

I wish this app would have allowed for the control of my Boss Katana 50 Mkii amp via USB. Or, if Boss had built Bluetooth connectivity into the amp from the get-go. Or even better, if Boss had designed its amp with a mind to #UX, so that remote control via an app/dongle would not even be necessary. Imagine Tone Studio built right into the top of the amp, via a touchscreen! Boss makes some of the best-sounding pedals, but all those wonderful sounds are inaccessible to me via this app.

Nearly 5 starts

Everything that you need but I hate the fact you can’t use the app in landscape.

Great app but please let it go into landscape view

This would be 5 stars but I can’t understand why it’s fixed in portrait mode. It ruins the whole experience!
