Great idea, very buggy
Love the app but has a substantial amount of bugs (understandably while still in development). Much of the text can get cut off, such as the “light bulb” popups not having enough space to show all text or multiple choice selections trailing offscreen. The practice sections typically require restarting many times over so that it either recognizes you’ve selected a response, gives you the opportunity to respond in the first place, or plays out the phrase to which you’re supposed to respond.
Looking forward to continued updates.

Very immersive!
I am a student learning Japanese in college, and I don’t technically need apps like this but this is actually a very helpful resource! I’ve been to Japan for studies and the Japanese used in this app is nothing like you would see in a textbook. Especially parts where Iako-san starts speaking sonkeigo, which is not used in textbooks very often but is seen in Japan everywhere! There are many apps that have you start from the very beginning, learning hiragana and katakana, but this puts you right in the middle, so if you’re a current Japanese language student, I would totally recommend it! Not so much for total beginners, though… But after that hurdle, I would wholeheartedly suggest this as a resource!

Really likening it so far
I’m finding the app really fun so far and seems like I’m starting to learn some practical language skills for my upcoming trip to Japan. As an improvement, I would suggest maybe a place in the app you could go to review vocab and grammar learned in previous scenarios.
Very cute and helpful
Iago is wayy more useful than duolingo so far and no adverts yet :)
If the subscription isnt too expensive i may buy it 😀

Good but needs bug fixes
This idea for this app is very good, but there are a few bugs that need to be fixed. For example, the sounds sometimes the audio will get very quiet and I won’t be able to hear what the person is trying to say. Other times the music is so loud that I can’t hear what they’re trying to say. They’re also visual bugs such as the app won’t line up to the phone screen correctly so answers will be off screen. I had this happen and I clicked all top three options were they were all wrong and the correct answer was off screen so I couldn’t finish the lesson. This also happens towards the top of the screen as well when you’re trying to read the top will be cut off so you can’t read it. I also think that there should be an area to learn very basic Japanese the way that a jump in I understand is for story sake, but it’s a little too quick and if you don’t know any Japanese, you are definitely gonna be lost. I think adding a section for learning how to count and very basic Japanese like how to say hello would be helpful. Overall, I think it’s a good app and if it just fixes these few bugs, then it will be a great app.

Not for beginners
I really like this app but it’s not the best for beginners. I’ve been learning Japanese for a while but I still put in that I’m a noob just to get the full experience. I like it but if I were really a noob, I wouldn’t get it. Great app for those who just wanna practice speaking tho!
Not terrible but …
The music is annoying. I have to turn it off every story and there is no hi option to turn it off in the practice rounds. I wish I could turn it down relative to the voice actor rather then having to turn it completely off :/
There are other parts of the UI two that could use some work. It takes multiple clicks to actually get into sections that describe what words mean or how to use them
Another major complaint is that the voice actor speaks too quickly . I get that this is an app designed to teach you by speaking the language natively at you, but it would really help if they had an option for listening to it in a slower format.

Lacking Immersion? Here’s the fix
Great app! Exactly what I needed. Whilst a work in progress, it’s great!
Fabulous!!
Ive always tried to learn japanese but was too lazy and i dont like reading but this is very fun and interesting thanks for this great app!
Very good so far!!!!
I'm not very far in yet, but the game is extremely promising! In the practice portions, I really like that as you are doing the speaking parts it Will show you is you go what you are getting right , instead of marking you wrong for a single mistake. I find that it is very helpful for remembering what I've learned. The game is also very fun, intuitive, and I like that it starts out right into conversation that is USEFULL
Things like, "where is the department store?" "where is the elevator/escalator ?" "what floor is the store on?" and after you master those, it lets you choose what scenarios you want to practice in. Veryhelpfil, very engaging ♥️
10/10 looking forward to learning more!
