Works with Legacy MeatIt Thermometers

I have 2 MeatIt+ thermometers. Last year we were treated to a MeatIt 2023 app which generally an improvement to the old MeatIt app that wasn’t getting updated regularly. However, it too hasn’t received any updates. So when I saw the new app I was curious if it would work with the MeatIt+thermometers I already owned. And it does! New features include: resting times, better graphs, and some machine learning.

Works with Legacy MeatIt Thermometers

I have 2 MeatIt+ thermometers. Last year we were treated to a MeatIt 2023 app which generally an improvement to the old MeatIt app that wasn’t getting updated regularly. However, it too hasn’t received any updates. So when I saw the new app I was curious if it would work with the MeatIt thermometers I already owned. And it does! New features include: resting times, better graphs, and some machine learning. My initial comments are: 1. How can you not have “medium” as a cooking choice? You have medium rare and medium well. Please add that. 2. I really liked the old, old feature where a phone or iPad could put the information onto WiFi so you could be anywhere around the home and keep track of what’s going on with your cook. I suppose it might work well with my watch. 3. Notifications appear to work like real notifications that got my attention on my watch. Previously they didn’t seem to be like true notifications. 4. I’d really like a feature that could tell me when my grill runs out of gas, and the temperature drops for an extended period of time. I’ve seen a cooking too slowly in other versions of this app, but never seen it trigger. It could potentially inform me of such a problem if it worked well. I guess I’ll see what happens. 5. Not really sure what the AI does and how it learns and improves. 6. The warn half way doesn’t seem to work. Keep updating and supporting the old hardware as you add support for the new MeatIt 3 devices! Oh one more thing. Currently a big problem with MeatIt thermometers is that you can’t tell them apart when on the grill, unless they are stuck in different meats. This really is potentially a problem with MeatIt 3 as well. Perhaps some color tags or something?
