Not optimized for mobile
The elements are too small to see without a magnifying glass. No way to zoom in to see more. I’m a big fan of the tabletop game, and wish the mobile game was as accessible.
Improvement needed
User interface is far too small on iPhone, making it impossible to see any text or iconography. Only able to recognise tokens be the colour it’s that bad. This is made worse by the incredible amount of unused space (sea area) surrounding the gaming area. This should be an easy fix to simply zoom/enlarge the actual playing area.
Along side this, the click boxes are so small, you’re just tapping the ‘End Turn’ button hoping it’ll work.
Played 2 games and the 2nd one crashed. Good board game but not worth the money in this current state.

Overboss rules!
This game is full of retro charm and devious decision-making. You play an evil Overboss building your overworld map, which looks like something out of a Super NES or Game Boy Advance game.
The actual tile-laying gameplay has elements of Calico or Cascadia, but elements like Boss powers and Command cards make it feel unique. The simple choices every turn -- where do I place my tile and token? -- get surprisingly layered.
I didn't have any trouble keeping track of the visuals on my iPhone 14, but it looks especially nice on iPad. You can tap any of the tiles, or the icons representing them, to get a zoomed-in view of any relevant gameplay info.
Overall, a great game that makes me wish the original Boss Monster could come to iOS, too!
