Trainyard’s Successor

This game has about the same gameplay as an old 32-bit ios game called trainyard, information you can get from trainyard.ca. Although I appreciate that someone recreated the game, I much prefer trainyard’s gameplay loop, depth and artstyle. This game’s artstyle, while it makes sense and is a nice callback to the kid’s wooden track trainsets, is hard to read. There’s low contrast between objects, and on top-down mode it’s even worse because obstacles are small and the same color as the background from that angle. On trainyard the artstyle is very unique and personally nostalgic. It’s clear what everything does and is and the color and duplication mechanics add for a lot more depth and unique puzzles. The sound design in trainyard is also really fun to listen to. For these reasons (and a lot of bias and nostalgia for the original), I will wait for trainyard to be remade and buy that instead of this game. Again I express my appreciation for this game somewhat extending the legacy of trainyard, but I have a special attachment to trainyard that this game cannot recreate.

Good But not a 5/5

Tiny trains is a fun and educational puzzle game with loads of levels were you make train tracks that lead a train into a train station.Sometime the levels can be a bit complicated but it helps with puzzle solving.

Great game, but...

I love this game. Haven't put it down from the moment I downloaded it. But key details are omitted from the how-to, such as the tickets awarded for solving each puzzle and what criteria the game uses to determine those awards. I just ignored them until I discovered that I don't have enough gold tickets to advance to chapter 6. Grrr. Also, spoiler alert: the game clearly explains how the Stations work when they are introduced. Yet when you reach Ch 5, level 19, one station suddenly works differently with no explanation whatsoever! WTH?

Great game until...

I was loving this game. Couldn't put it down from the moment I downloaded it. The puzzles get pretty difficult, but not so difficult that it's no longer fun... until chapter 5, level 19, which, unless I'm missing something, has no possible solution. There's no 'hint' function, and since you have to complete a level in order to unlock the next, gameplay has come to a screeching halt. So until they publish a solution or fix the issue, my days playing this game are sadly, and suddenly, over. Hoping a developer might chime in because if I hadn't encountered this impossible level, I'd be giving this game 5 stars and a rave review.

A Few Things

Game is fun. Unfortunately for me the game is ruined by the controls. The draw mode is tough to draw corners and the placement mode is clunky. I feel like in placement mode I should tap the type of track I want to place and be able to place that track repeatedly. Then if I want to switch tracks I just tap a different type and so on. Right now with having to drag it out just doesn't seem the best.
