  • I can breathe again.

This app may be adding years to my life. My wife saw my phone screen and immediately said, “Please do that to my phone.”
It may not seem like much but the little pause your brain takes to read the words of the apps rather than click on an icon designed to be like a little piece of candy for your brain, dramatically reduces the amount of attraction you have to the phone in general and that is a GREAT thing. The app also functions very well and smoothly. I am so grateful. This app will help so many people.
  • Puts me back in control of my phone/life

I love this app. I think this is essential for anyone who want to use their phone instead of having their phone use them :). This helps puts you back in control of your time and your life. I also find this visually more relaxing. If you care about your productivity and enjoying your life definitely check this essential app out! It’s very well made for iOS! With great support.
  • Great app

There are others like this app. But I chose this one because it has great features for the free version. It works perfectly to focus on important apps, making your phone less distracting, while also giving it a nice aesthetic if you prefer that compared to the other apps that only allow gray.

The dev is also super kind and if an app you want to add to the widget is not available, then you can message him to add your app. For example, there was a fitness app I wanted to put on the widget and he quickly added it for me.

You should use this app 💯
  • I want to like it but…

I can’t seem to finish setting up the app on my phone. When I go to “long press the Home Screen,” (as it says in step 6) it doesn’t give me any options to “hide the extra screens,” which means the app’s aesthetic doesn’t get activated. Also, trying to set up detox put me in an endless loop of requesting permission to connect Screen Time and then being denied “so please press continue” to try again, which results in being denied, etc etc.
I also found the option to add the apps to the screens mildly annoying bc I couldn’t easily rearrange the apps in any order once I’d chosen them. I had to delete apps 6-11 I’d added to insert, say, calendar into the #5 slot.
Also, the link to send feedback via Telegram (an app I don’t have) or via Email doesn’t work.

Really like the idea, but can’t get it to work on my phone!
  • Very effective!

Sometimes I hate this app because it’s so effective at what I want it to do, haha. But that’s a good thing! It’s very good at blocking the apps that you want to restrict yourself from, and while the transition from the regular home screen to the “dumb” home screen felt really strange at first, it’s had a super positive effect on my day to day.

I’m truly using my phone more as a tool and less as a crutch, so a huge thank you to the developers for this. !!
  • Its minimal

It works as well as some of the others. It’s helped to make my phone boring to use, which is what i wanted. My only issue with it is how difficult it is to change the order of apps. As far as I can tell, the order you select apps is the order they appear, but what if you want to change an app on page one? You have to deselect everything on page 2, select the app, then reselect everything again. And inevitably you’ll miss one app and have to do it again.

Other than that, it works well. Minimal lag, much less distracting, and really makes me ask “why am I staring at my phone right now?”
  • Amazing app!!!

The only thing I could imagine is to make the detox apps a time limit instead of a between certain hours. I work a swing shift so I switch between days and nights so between certain hours doesn’t help me. But this app being properly installed has helped me to cut down on my phone time drastically. I love the fact that the creators have made something to stop my addiction to my smartphone.
  • Great minimalist launcher

Good app with lots of customizability! Looks cool and offers several different backgrounds.
You can message the developer to add apps that aren’t supported yet, which I appreciate much more than using Apple Shortcuts for unsupported apps (as other apps require).
My only suggestions would be allowing for multiple app list widgets (ie. up to 3 minimalist pages displaying up to 18 apps), and making the text/style of the app list customizable.
  • Keeps Me Focused

Minimalist Phone Launcher has been a critical part of my strategy to reduce my phone usage and be more present with my family. It gives me a clean, uncluttered, notification-/distraction-free interface, with quick launching for critical apps. It’s easy to install and set up. Everything I was looking for in a minimalist-phone app, and paired with a matte screen and the iPhone’s black-and-white color filter, I’ve seen massive reduction in phone checking/usage.
  • Helping reduce my screen time

I often wonder where my hours go. I’ve always been organized and would consider myself a strong time manager. But with apps being designed to grab our attention more effectively and powerfully, we need to build an arsenal of techniques and strategies to guard our mind. I think this app can be a part of that arsenal.
