Useless, don’t bother
This app barely functions on a good day. Every single time you open the app, you have to log in again. Every single time. Then sometimes it also logs you out of your cable subscription, so you have to retype that password as well. If you’re trying to do this on a smart tv you’ll miss chunks of the game trying to get passwords typed in. The stream itself crashes, freezes, or had video/audio issues multiples time PER MINUTE, making the game difficult to watch. Even more egregious, they minimize the broadcast and cut the broadcast audio WHILE THE PUCK IS IN PLAY to play ad overlays instead. You’ll miss gameplay, penalty explanations, etc. The ads also seem to further destabilize the stream leading to more crashes and you’ll often have to restart the app, which means, you guessed it, you have to log in over again and miss more of the game. They also just cut ties with my cable network, so my only option is now to pay the subscription. The problem is it’s $30 a month. That would be absurdly overpriced for an ad-free streaming subscription, but that’s actually the monthly cost with ads. Don’t waste your time and stick to streaming sites. Maybe Gotham Sports will get their act together eventually.

This app is so bad I had to write a review
I don’t remember the last time I wrote a review for an iOS app, but this app is so garbage I am writing one now. I have this app because I don’t have cable anymore and I need a way to watch the Knicks and now the Yankees. Some of the horrible stuff on here is the quality of the streams, the fact that the streams are so horribly delayed for some reason, and getting kicked out of watching it to due an error that I have no idea what it’s about. I had to make a whole new account because he wouldn’t let me use my first account on my Roku for some reason. I don’t understand why you guys basically forced us to use this app and give us the worst service I’ve ever seen. Fix this garbage app, I have no other reason to use it besides watching my teams and I prefer to have an option to watch them instead of resorting to outside sites.

Delete the app
I really wanted to like the Gotham Sports app, but it’s been a huge disappointment. The interface is clunky and hard to navigate finding scores or highlights feels like a chore. The app constantly crashes, especially when trying to load live updates. It’s frustrating to use, and I’ve had issues with it freezing up when checking stats. Honestly, the YES app was so much better, it had a much smoother experience and worked reliably. Gotham Sports feels like a step backward in every way. I’m really hoping they improve it, but right now, it’s just not worth the time or frustration.

App problems
App doesn’t work with subscriptions, in a season the Knicks are having and haven’t been able to see any games because of a app defect , MSG + was working fine u til they decided to try to force people to watch all New York Teams in one app that doesn’t work is terrible for the fans and consumers in the local area , not be able to watch the teams. It’s like they wanna force people at home to pay a premium, and this app making it feel like the MSG experience is to expensive to even watch from home , $30 dollars for 13 games $10 for one ?! Is ridiculous on top of already paying a subscription for Direct Tv .

Constant buffering/no audio
UPDATE: Using Apple TV. Went to put on the Nets game and THERE’S NO AUDIO. HOW CAN AN APP BE THIS DYSFUNCTIONAL ON SUCH A BASIC LEVEL! And that’s after the login issues everyone else has mentioned in reviews.
The stream constantly slows down and drags, I do not understand how this can be an issue with everything streaming nowadays. It’s the ONLY JOV a streaming app has - putting aside user experience and design, which I’d also terrible. Thought it was an easy way to watch my favorite teams as I don’t often actually use cable TV, but the buffering and lag make it nearly unwatchable.

There is Literally No Worse App on the Planet
I have had sleep paralysis experiences more enjoyable than this app. I’ve been to funerals that weren’t half as sad as its design quality. You would be better off committing a serious enough crime to go to prison so you can use the cable in their rec room than trying to get this putrid piece of digital genocide to work. You would have better luck having Casey Anthony babysit your kids while you went to Bernie Madoff to discuss an investment opportunity than you will attempting to watch a full game using this app. Have you seen the Sidetalk clips of Knicks fans after they beat Boston in the first game of the regular season, Gotham Sports app devs? We’re almost all clinically insane for this team and you’re standing between us and watching them. Is this some kind of sick social experiment? Fix this abomination or we riot.

WASTE OF MONEY!
I have to have my hockey and don’t have cable, so I’m forced into this expensive, garbage app. No other streaming service requires you to log in every single time you watch. It completely blacks out no less than 8 times per game where I have to go all the way out and back in again for it to maybe come back on. And when it does, it looks like it’s being filmed on a potato for up to 5 min sometimes. And it also glitches no less than 20 times per game where it goes black for 2 seconds. And I have a new Samsung tv, so I know it’s not my tv. Disgusted that I have to pay so much for this horrible service.

Worst App and Support
Can’t say enough how buggy the app is. Also, unlike most other sports apps, you are unable the watch the game in progress from the beginning or resume where last watched. You can’t really pause. So if you want to watch the complete game while it’s in progress, you have to wait about an hour after the game for a replay to be posted. Also, they claim to have a Roku app, but it doesn’t work. Despite three calls with tickets opened and promises to escalate, they literally ignore the ticket until you call back and put you through another 20 minutes of questions that you already answered. Unfortunately, if you want to watch the Knicks and you don’t have it through your cable provider, it’s the only option. But hard to believe in this day in age that an app this bad could exist.

Horrible
I was forced to download this terrible app because they moved MSG+ to this atrocity. I can’t watch more than 2 minutes of any rangers game without it starting to get pixelated and glitchy. This is absolutely terrible. I have no issue streaming anything else in my house. I have gig speed fiber internet going to a eero 6 pro router. My house is 1800 sqft. It’s not a hardware issue. This is 1000% an app issue. I live on Long Island so it’s not a location issue either. I used to have similar issues with the MSG app but not as often. This make a watching a game extremely unpleasant. Do better.

MSG to Gotham
I had better luck trying to view hockey games on MSG go app. This Gotham app has not been cooperative to get the version two of either MSG or MSGSN. The NHL app has given me the scores of the game and states it should be available on, for example, MSGSN2 but now with Gotham Sports which shows nothing/not airing. It does play through Gotham, it used to under the MSG app. Please fix this error in play. When paying for the service of MSG as part of our tv streaming package, it should be available through the app (MSG or Gotham). It makes it hard to follow your favorite sports team when it is not airing when other reputable sports apps claim it should be.
