  • Controls Ruin It

I used to love Google maps in the PC version of Google Earth. The concept is beautiful of being able to fly around and see different places as well as places used to live or visited. However, the controls for this app are really bad. I can’t turn around. I have to completely move my head around to look at different things. It absolutely ruins the experience. with Google maps I could fly around like a jet pilot, but with this it’s like 1999 technology to navigate with your head like it’s those old headsets that you can put your cell phone into. If they could improve navigation, this would be a five star app. I tried it for two minutes and I am returning it. This is a big bummer cause I really wanted this to work. I hope they improve controls or another company makes a Google Earth app with better control controls.

  • Confusing buggy

No way to turn off music , cannot pan turn

    Developer Response

Hey there, Sorry you had trouble. You can disable the music in the pause menu, which can be accessed by pinching both hands together at the same time. We currently only have snap turning because the hand tracking is not precise enough for pan turning, we are working on comfortable panning for a future update.
  • Awesome app! Hope to see these improvements.

Love the app, but would like to see at least a few of these additions.
    - Add voice input for destinations… it’s surprising this is absent.
    - Save favorite locations… really should be in the app
    - Add (or improve) 360 degree spin. I can’t seem to turn around, but just make gentle turns going forward (or backwards).
    - Save selected flight paths. Would be useful to show “guest” users or revisit favorite flights.
    - Add street view imagery for ground-level navigation. This is probably a big ask. Maybe another app called “Drive”! lol

Update: Glad to see the frequent updates, but documentation/tutorial is problematic. For example, I have been unable to use “Street View” or reliably make “Snap Turns” (these randomly occur in use, but I have no idea how to initiate them). I have never been able to to view the Street View tutorial… it doesn’t appear under the the tutorial section (that I can find). I see no mention of Snap Turns at all, except as a developer comment in this review. I think the app is going in the right direction, but please give better instructions for its’ use!

Hey thanks for trying it out. Voice input is in something we are working on currently. Bookmarks went out with the latest update and are available now. Street view integration also was added in the most recent update. Snap turning should allow you to get a full 360 turn, but we are looking at a better way to get this going on the vision pro, the pinch controls are not as ideal, so we may add controller support as well. Flight paths are something we are looking at, but need to do some design to see how it would work best. Thanks again for the feedback and trying it.
  • Magnificent!

What a fantastic app! Controls become very intuitive with a little practice and then you’re just enjoying the feeling of flying. “Google Earth inside the AVP” is my quick description but it doesn’t capture the amazing experience.

1.2 update: So happy to see bookmarks implemented and the ability to pull up a 360 Street View is wonderful! This is the first app I recommend new AVP owners buy.

    Requests:
    1. Bookmarks! <— DONE, thanks!
    2. Let me move the music volume down to 0, not just 1. I want to turn it off completely
    3. Do we really need to use that custom keyboard? Why can’t you use the standard one, then I could speak my destination, not to mention type more easily?
    4. Still seeing some position skips in the latest version. Not a huge deal but breaks the immersion a little when it happens

Thanks for the great review! here's some follow up to the questions you had: 2. You can actually turn the music off all the way in the Music tab, and adjust the music volume itself there as well. The audio settings is more all around audio. 3. We are working on voice input, but unfortunately the standard keyboard relies on eye tracking which is not available to fully immersive apps. 4. Will take another look at this one!
  • Was “Magnificent!” Now “Broken :-(“

So excited by the 1.2 update but… I get zero tiles. Just a wide expanse of blue. Tried deleting my app and reinstalling it. Doesn’t work whereas the previous version was flawless. Please fix ASAP!

  • For $15 they really should have a demo version

The controls are unintuitive, why am I using my head and body instead of my eyes and fingers like any other Vision Pro app?

    Developer Response

Sorry you found it unintuitive, we are working within some restrictions on the platform side. As a fully immersive app and not a spatial app, we unfortunately do not have access to eyes. We need to be fully immersive to get full use of the headset power for the best experience. You can switch to hands only controls in the options, which can be accessed by double pinching. If apple provides us with eye controls at some point we will implement them asap!
  • Amazing but it’s driving me crazy

Really truly amazing app. I think it’s better than Google on oculus. One thing that’s making me completely nuts… When you’re in a city or environment I can’t figure out how to get to the options menu to let me teleport to another city or place on the globe. I’ve scoured the developers website and the help section doesn’t tell you what hand motion to use to call up the preferences screen. So you wind up getting stuck in a random city every time you boot up. It would be nice if they included that in the Money manual . It would be also nice if the developer can respond here. Really great app, worth the price, just needs more explanation on how to use the app.

Hey there, Thanks for taking a look, sorry that you are having trouble. In order to fast travel or open the menu's you just pinch and hold with both hands at the same time. We are looking for an alternative method that will be easier in the long run. It is part of the tutorial, but I am unsure what you mean by the "money manual"?

  • How do you move?

Edit: Movement is working now, changed my review. The app is great. You can fly all around over a satellite map of the Earth, sometimes with 3-D models. It’s pretty amazing to see your neighborhood and be able to fly around. Some suggestions enable a seating mode. Allow you to change movement to your other hand. Allow you to fly faster. Use your eyes when searching with the keyboard . Overall, the app is great and it’s worth the cost.

I’m not sure what the developers are thinking but its not obvious on how to move in this app. I can only figure out how to go up and down.

    Developer Response

Hey Peteostro, Sorry you are having trouble. The tutorial should teach you how to move around using your head position. If you pinch with both hands you can open the options and swap to pinch and move motion for moving around similar to the elevation on the right hand. If you have further issues happy to help with it if you reach out to support@virzoom.com
  • Incredible and Emotional

This is such an amazing app. I got emotional flying over my childhood neighbor, my grandmother's house, and many other places filled with deep and thoughtful memories. This was well worth the money. It would be awesome to be able the labels of street names or to have a mini map.
