Being able to run GZDoom on iOS has been a longtime dream of mine, and it's finally here! What's here is already promising, but it's definitely missing key features, and other things definitely need tuning.
-aiming with a touchscreen feels less like a mouse and more like touch input being translated to controller stick input that's then being given to the game. It DOES NOT feel good whatsoever, and if you have a background with other touchscreen FPS games, it's gonna feel especially bad.
-as another reviewer pointed out, not being able to have generic buttons that can be used for mod specific bindings is also an issue, along with the fact you can't actually resize any of the buttons, nor control their transparency independent of each other. Being able to mess around with the top buttons as well would also be nice. (Having a separate button that pulls them all out and hides them would be a nice addition as well)
Those are the things that stuck out the most to me, but as an enjoyer of doom's community modding scene and mobile gaming, this is a HUGE blessing. Thanks for making this, and good luck on your future endeavors!
-EDIT 9/16/24: the dev has fixed all of these issues and more, absolutely wonderful app. If you're on the fence, just buy it.
I love this app but how do I make keyboard cheats work?

Thank you for your feedback. The best way to use cheats is to use the console by pressing the "~" button on the onscreen or hardware keyboard. You can type in commands like "give all" and others. Other commands can be found by searching for "GZDoom cheats" on the web.This is just about the best port of GZDoom to iOS I could ever have hoped for. It’s considerably better and more capable than the official Doom mobile ports. Excellent work by this developer.
Is there no way to remove wads you’ve added to it? My apps flooded I need to delete some and can’t figure it out.

To remove a launch configuration, you can swipe left on a launch configuration to reveal the edit and delete options. To remove the actual wad files, you can delete them from the GenZD folder in the Files app. Note that if you delete a file that a launch configuration depends on, the launch configuration will not start and you'll get an error.

Title says it all. I was already happy with the fact that zdoom mods are now playable on iOS. Now it controls better! Buttery smooth
Best $2 I've spent on the +100 apps I've bought so far lol, thank you for porting gz , got disappointed Doom on Xbox didn't have support but this has saved that feeling, 1 suggestion is could you get configs in game to save after changing binds and sens? Or do I have to play with the gzdoom.ini?
Update2: love the iPad support and additional enhancements. This continues to be a steal at this price!
A suggestion - iOS 18 includes ‘game mode’ that works similar to the Mac’s ‘game mode’. From what I read you have to classify your app as a ‘game’ versus something like ‘entertainment’. I am not sure how easy it is to change this or if it creates havoc with the app approval process. But it might be worth looking into. Otherwise, great job!
I was a little skeptical at first, but I figured it’s only $2. I’ll try it. Winds up, this is one of the best ways to play DOOM right now. It works with all of my favorite mods, and it even supports Legacy of Rust as well as the new soundtrack from the just-released update.
Every mod I’ve tried has worked. My House, Doom Infinite, Brutal Doom, Alien Trilogy, and even Splatterhouse! Also worked with the GameSir G8 controller no issues.
EDIT: also the developer has been super responsive to fixes. Buy it now!
