...Then I tried this app
Simple. Visual. Straightforward.
Then this is the app for you!
I’ve tried every budgeting app known to man and THIS is the one that has stuck. It has exactly what I want in a budgeting app: guidelines, some - not excessive - detailed analysis of my spending, and such an easy interface that I don’t mind entering in purchases immediately after making them. Thank you to the people who have worked on this app! It’s a great product and I hope I always have it at my fingertips.
Takes a bit of trying to get right, but we’ll worth it

Finally getting my budget together
Really love this app
The two features I think that I would LOVE to see are:
- A calendar mode where you can see an overall image of your budget and how it’s going to track over the next/past few weeks/months
- being able to input salary in a more specific way to line up with when I’m actually paid. For example my current job pays on the last weekday of each month. My previous one paid on the first Friday of each month ( I know weird).
I’m passionate about this app and have paid for the full version and despite my gesture requests I still full-heartedly recommend trying it out.

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! Calendar entry system is planned for one of the further releases. Currently, there is an Overview section under Analysis, which can be accessed by tapping the Notepad icon in the top right corner. There you can see the overall picture for the current and past cycles (switched to via the left arrow at the top). As to inputting salary, the exact payday doesn't play a very big role since the app distributes the income over the period. However, we'll keep your feedback in mind for future releases.
My Unorthodox Use Case
I mainly care about portioning out a bit of the meal plan each day for big events and such, but the app is also quite functional in that I can transfer all of the collected finance data into a CSV spreadsheet!
Returning to the meal plan, the way the app tries to set up my budget as more income-based than allowance-based is probably useful for most use cases of this app. However, my meal plan is essentially just a gift card that I swipe on campus, with a fixed amount at the start of each semester. In order to get around the “income” problem for this app, I essentially just have the pay period (a setting in the income options) to the duration of the semester. From there, the app calculates how much you get every day, and just gives you that fixed income for as long as you wish. I’ve found that basically for August and January, when I’m not spending meal plan for half of those months, I just subtract all of the accrued savings and continue on with the semester!
Overall, love the app. Easy to use. Also has a good Internet forum on reddit.

Thank you very much for your detailed review! You can also enter your meal plan amount as an extra income and distribute it over the necessary period. In this case it'd be easier to edit it. But in general regular income does the same things with start and end date.
A breath of fresh air amongst other dreary budgeting apps

We deeply appreciate your detailed review and are happy to hear that Daily Budget assists you in budgeting efficiently - may your consultancy business grow and prosper!
Great app!
I do have one suggestion: under “savings” could you add options for savings per week/fortnight/month etc. instead of just per day or a percentage? I’d prefer to set up my savings to coincide on my fortnightly pay days, just like the regular expenses and income.
Thanks for such a good app and keep up the good work!
Response from developer
Thank you very much for your suggestion, we'll consider it for future updates! Meanwhile, you can disable "Use % of income" toggle and the app will allow you to set a savings amount per cycle. If your cycle corresponds to a month, for example, then it will be savings per month.
A simple, well executed little app
1- my bank doesn’t play well with other apps and the sign up stage is always painful
2 - I’m uncomfortable about another company having that amount of granular data on me
3 - I’d probably keep spending as usual and then feel guilty about it when I look at the analysis. Daily Budget asks me to take money away from my daily allowance at the point of purchasing something. So it encourages informed decisions making about how I spend my money instead of showing me how I have already spent my money.
There are a lot of paid for add-ons. This, at first, seems a little counter intuitive to the aim of the app - to save money and spend less on things you don’t actually need. But, allowing me to pay a one off fee for each additional feature I find of use is a clever way of making me think about what will help me budget. And no subscriptions!
