Devs: Please ....

...make some way to fast forward or skip the cut scenes.

You die so often.
And they’re so .... danged... long...
And you die so often.

Really all you want to do is give it another go.
And then the scenes start repeating...
That’s cool for the first 842 deaths.
At 843, though, something snaps.
And you want to throw your device out the window.
(But, like it was really expensive, man ... you know?)

Please.

Oh and hey - love the game. And I’m picky. No really.

Looks good but broken

Looks pretty sure, seemed like a good product from the reviews / preview but sadly seems untested.

First the scratch to wake in the first few seconds was impossibly hard (fixed now I know) but now I can’t interact with many items. Pulling down on the first light just scrolls.

The top right button (no idea what it is as can’t interact) just prompts me with Oh! What’s this but I can’t actually tap it.

Would no recommend until the developer has fully tested and updated

Hello, sorry you seem to be having issues. If you managed to get the right tab to show, you must have been able to pull the light cable. The tab is a slider that you need to hold and pull. Most things in the game are a pull or a drag. This is a training level so some items only work after you progress, such as the following lights. You can tell because they have no pulse on the cord yet. Drop me a line on contact@gory-detail.com as it is possible we have a bug and we can get a bit more information. Hopefully we can sort you out - Shawn & Chris

A Charming Title That works well for mobile

Visually stunning and eerily beautiful, The Unlikely Legend Of Rusty Pup trully is an interesting title. While quite different from other games, Rusty lives up to the creative Nature And quality of BFD's director Chris Seavor and Shawn Pile's games. Rusty pup is an engaging game. You must be paying attention at all times to complete a level. You have to be watching both Rusty and the stage. look at the stage too long and rusty gets caught in a trap and you’ll have to start the level over. However, eachtime you restart the level, you know what to do to fix your last mistake. To complete a level on the 1st try is to be very smart! Rember to py attention to your errors and their solutions. The game can be difficult. The audio in this game is astounding as well as the visuals and i'm sure you'll love the game's vibe. There's many mysteries in the game that can be solved once completed. I Have yet to complete the game and so do you!

Clearly I’m a moron

I scratched him, I pulled the chain to make light...but I can’t seem to make him explore around past “home”. And speaking of home, once the game starts, I can’t seem to find a pause, or a settings button, much less a tutorial. Guess I’ll try YouTube

Response from developer

Hi, you are not a moron, it’s a devilish game, you’ll pick it up. You have to time the light so he can walk through it to the gap. You will then learn how to fill gaps using bricks. Rusty will not leave a light to walk into darkness. You can use lights to trap Rusty or even to turn him, if you time the on/off correct. We don’t have any settings, so don’t worry if you cannot find. We don’t have a pause as it removes the urgency of the time limit. You don’t have lives so no need to worry about death. The narrator often gives you clues or tells you what you just learned. You can always send a message to contact@gory-detail.com if you need some help as well - Shawn &Chris

Obscure and hard to play on iPhone

This isn’t well-suited to small screens, the controls are fiddly and details are too hard to see. The game does a poor job of explaining itself so it becomes rather annoying to play rather than challenging. The graphic style is cool but it’s so busy that it actually gets in the way of seeing what you’re supposed to do.

Response from developer

Hi, sorry you didn’t enjoy the style of puzzle. We tried to move away form the heavy tutorial based narrative. The narrators point out what you just learned and other little clues, they can be rather cryptic though. We tried to keep the Ui just down to drag and drop. The next version will make the right tab way easier to pull on a smaller phone screen. We’ll see what we can improve -Shawn & Chris

Shallow

Pros: Very pretty
Cons: Very boring puzzles, Very slow, Very irritating narration
Summary: Would not recommended

Response from developer

Sorry you didn't enjoy the puzzles, they do get insanely difficult. We have over 30 mechanics and over 100 unique puzzles. Hopefully, you can have another dig and perhaps find some of the depth that is in there - Shawn & Chris

Stunning game, great gameplay

I loved the PC version of Rusty Pup but my laptop wasn’t quite up to the task and was a little jittery. After watching a few streamers, I had a good idea of how to play and how to ‘beat’ the game. If you struggle with it or if you’re a bit of a noob, that’s what I’d recommend doing.

It runs really well on my phone and sounds great with headphones (I’d just put them in to get amp up the creepiness factor)

The only downside is how bad I felt for repeatedly killing the poor thing. 😭

A Console Quality Puzzler For A Steal

This game is dare I say it, the “Dark Souls” of puzzle games. Play at your own risk, but just know the reward of hours of brain bending entertainment is worth it. I can’t wait to see what this pup does next. Also, your money from purchasing Rusty Pup will go towards a funding spiritual successor to everyone’s favorite N64 Rare classic, Conker’s Bad Fur Day! So if you’re not a puzzler fan, then make the purchase for the Conker fan we all have inside!

Not my thing

I would advise anyone intrigued by the rather stunning visuals to watch a YouTube clip of the game in progress before you buy (it’s not cheap!) Some will doubtless find it charming, I took it as a lesson to be more careful what I spend my money on. Besides the visuals, I can’t say anything positive about it. The controls are annoying, the rhyming narration is irritatingly twee and the gameplay dreadfully dull. Basically, you will lead your little pup on various paths by switching on lights causing him to fall into funnels leading him to different paths. There is no indication on which is the correct path so it’s all guesswork and trial and error. When you run out of time and start again you are expected to simply try a different path. Occasionally you lay down bricks to span two platforms. Really ancient gameplay that won’t satisfy anyone over the age of six. It might get better if I persevered but I don’t think I can bear that annoying narration and having to scratch the dog to wake him up every time the game restarts. It’s really not for me.

Response from developer

Hi, Sorry that you didn't enjoy the game. Believe it or not, all the solutions to levels are hidden in there, perhaps a little too well and everything has a reason (dog sleeps to let you explore without the timer, narrators tell you what you just learned for later, etc). We've tried to make a complex 20-30hr puzzler, it can take a while to get the rhythm but it is in there we hope. Trial and error mean we've failed to make the clues more obvious. Hopefully, you can still request a refund. Thanks for the feedback - Shawn & Chris

No iPad Pro 11” Support

The game is absolutely Fantastic! The visuals are Stunning! However, this masterpiece is let down by not having full support for the iPad Pro 11” Extremely disappointed! No excuse not too for a new game. Will adjust rating to 5 stars when the support is updated.

Response from developer

Hello, Chris runs on an iPad Pro 11" series 1, I run on an Ipad Air 2. Can you send me a bit more information to contact@gory-detail.com as to the issue, not sure what you mean by fully support? We should support all devices that run iOS 11 - Shawn & Chris
