App charged me $3.18
I went to download the app and is part of the download process. I had to update my payment information. I thought this was something in the App Store application since I had just recently updated my Apple wallet. Next thing I knew they were charging my card for this app that’s supposed to be free! There was no alert for notification of that fee. This is pretty sleazy.

Unprofessional & Poorly Designed
There are so many missing best practices in modern app development. Why does a premier sports event have such an amateur lousy app? There are many basic usability and accessibility problems like illegible colors, teeny type size, no text control, no meaningful errors. The app is nearly unusable unless you login but it doesn’t say that. You also can’t use a VPN which is a security red flag. It’s a shame NYRR allows such unprofessional software to represent itself.

Can’t login as a runner even after multiple tries and also uninstalled/re-installed the app
Unable to log in to track runners
I was trying to log in to track runners, however I keep getting a “whoops” error message. I was able to log in with the same credentials on the nyrr website without issue. Please fix so I can track my friends on Sunday, thanks!!
Note to the NYCM team
Hi, I wonder if it is within your control to manage the search result in App Store? A search under “New York Marathon” will return the NYRR app as the result instead.
Should not require an email
Other race tracking apps like the Marine Corps Marathon offer far better live tracking, without the clunky experience of this app or the invasive need for an email or NYRR account. Poorly designed app altogether.
