Why should I pay for something I can’t even try

Great Concept - Poor Execution

I was excited to start using Parrot because I love the idea of tools that it adds on top of other popular Spanish immersion apps (e.g. D.S). Unfortunately, the app has been unreliable for me and the quality of content is not as high as other apps.

My biggest complaint is that key features in the app oftentimes just randomly won’t work. I often have to highlight phrases multiple times before the app will translate them. The typical response is that it just says “Parroting” and won’t give a translation. It eventually does work if I try multiple times on the same phrase, but that’s frustrating. Besides that, flashcards are glitchy sometimes, and I have also had individual videos that would not play.

Less important, but still worth mentioning, is that the quality of a lot of the videos is pretty mid. I’m on about the 12th lesson, and I find many of the videos to be unengaging. The writing / storylines are uninteresting, the acting is poor, and the sound quality is amateurish.

Parrot has the core for a great app. It’s just not there yet.

Subscription and Scams

The app presentation is well put together, but the inability to access subscriptions on the app, website or App Store is widely concerning. The issue with it forcing a subscription for everything as well is off putting; I even had an recent issue with it picking a yearly subscription when the monthly was clearly pushed. There was no email or notification about the trial ending early, or that it’d charge soon. I wasn’t made aware of the amount till after it hit the bank account, which was incorrect in my previous statement.

All of this is very disappointing in an app, especially with being so excited about the way it teaches Spanish.

😔

I got the app, and it said free? But it set a plan up and I couldn’t exit out of it! 🥲 I was looking forward to using this and couldn’t so I was a little disappointed I would still be interested in using it but I don’t want to pay! I thought it was free…

Parrot the goat

It’s good so far

It’s so fun

Love it

No trial period

I wish there was a free trial period that didn’t automatically enroll me in the paid program. I’m not going to bother to put my payment info in until I know I like something, but then I’d be willing to pay once the period ends if I like it

Good

It actually helped me learn Spanish better than the other apps

Bet I'll do this thing all day

Omg it's amazing

Jordyn’s tuff

It’s already helping me learn btw I’m bored

Need prononciation with sounds

Need prononciation with sounds

Probably should be free

It would be better if they made it free from what I’ve seen it is a good app I just wish they made a free option because why would someone need to pay to learn a language that could be naturally taught.

So trash

First off we gotta pay and other apps like Duolingo . We don’t have to pay so why do we have to pay and it feels like you’re just against Duolingo for some reason like what did thay do bro and I learn a lot from them like in every ad it’s always how y’all app is better than Duolingo like they didn’t do nothing so yeah this is a bad app. Don’t try it because you’re just gonna have to pay for some reason and every time you try to click for free you still have to pay bye

0 stars. has no option for free use.

you cannot use this app without paying first. i would understand ads and being persuaded with paying for premium and so on but to not even allow me to get off the ‘create an account’ page without forcing me to pay is ridiculous. i will not be forced to pay for this app, i would have considered doing so if i was able to get a glimpse of what i might learn with this app but to learn a language is and should always be free and even if i were to pay, its not going to be because i was forced to. 0 stars!

Good 👍😊💯

Not free

Before you download this take note that it’s not free and doesn’t offer any free content only a free download

Im disappointed

This app is advertised to be better then Duolingo but then you have to pay for it to even do a single lesson?! At least Duolingo is free with adds.

Not free at all

Behind a paywall. At least let people have a try at the app before pushing them to immediately begin paying!

LOVE IT

I honestly feel like this should be the only way to learn a language! I’m excited to go into the app everyday!

Worth the money!!

One downside

You have to get a subscription, and even when I press the x, it puts me back to the thing in an infinite loop. So yeah, unless you want to do that, just know money is needed. Like, I just want one good learning app that is good but free.
