  • Only for the Akai fans!

It lacks a zoom function when chopping samples. Also no auto chop function to be found, therefore chopping and assigning samples becomes very tedious. Beatmaker 2 is a much better and fully featured app. Akai - I love most of your products, but this one is a let down! Step your game up!
  • Great app, just needs some updates!

App continually crashed after trying to play a particular sequence which I had accidentally changed from 4 bars to 0, just thought I should mention that. Also, this app needs more FX, the delay and bitcrusher are great, but a reverb or an EQ would be sex! The compressor is always on for all tracks which doesn't always sound good, it's also missing some pretty standard controls (Ratio, attack, threshold, knee, etc.) As much as I hate to say it, this app could use a keyboard performance option. That said, this app has easily the best looking interface I've seen, and has been my favorite app since iMaschine. Highly recommended!

  • Nice App, Ruined By Lack of Audiobus!

What the heck is wrong with Retronyms and Akai. Have they not seen videos of millions of musicians using Audiobus to allow various music apps to be used seamlessly together to create powerful music? Have they not realized that iMPC could exponentially more powerful (and popular) when combined with other apps. , especially the new ultra powerful synth. apps? I realize that they feel their Tabletop app. competes with Audiobus and they want it to be an all-in-one, self-contained app., but that is not a wise strategy. For one, the the standalone synth. and effects apps. are far superior to the ones in Tabletop, after all, they were developed by the likes of Korg, Waldorf, Propellerhead and Moog to name a few. Second, Tabletop itself would benefit from having Audiobus. It has neat features, is fun to use, but can't do everything. Audiobus integration would solve that. Finally, customers want to have a choice in how we create music. We don't want to be confined to the limitations imposed by a company's marketing strategy.

  • Good

Im really liking it! Only downfall is it crashes occasionally & always crashes when I try sharing my sequence to soundcloud. Overall my favourite beat making app so far for iPhone.
  • MPC on iPhone

Great app! Amazing being able to sketch out a beat on phone and then export to renaissance for further work. Requests - needs to be able to chop sample and apply slices to pads, also it would be great if impc continued to play in background while using other apps so I can write lyrics in notepad on phone with the beat still playing. Or even better add a notebook function to impc?

  • Middle of the road

Good preset sounds, nice nod to the MPCs defining features with the 16 step option and note repeat.

Needs a half decent sequencer editor though - iOS devices don't really allow for tactile playability and this sometimes results in redundant note stacking on overdubs etc. plus it's just nicer to have that as an option.

Retronyms make good sounding effects, but the included effects feel more like an enticer to check out tabletop than a real attempt to give the iMPC a self sustaining environment.

Soundcloud integration is cool but should be optional. Seeing what people just uploaded can get annoying.

Lots of audio artifacts when adjusting anything.

  • Whack

Looks good but I think it's crap. So awkward to use, holding down 2 buttons to be able to start playing a beat in with remaining fingers. I suppose you want my socks off next so I have to use my toes as well. Probably made by some stoned hip hop producer who swears he's the next big thing but really only has 2 fans and they're both dead.

    Fun for 5 minutes.
  • The Original. The Best. Awesome.

I've always wanted an MPC. Now I've one in my pocket, can use it anytime I want... The Akai MPC's were the originals and the best. This iMPC is simply amazing. Download it, make tracks, have fun, it's downright awesome! Legendary!
  • Great

I'd heard some bad reviews about this app, so I was a little hesitant. However, glad I got it. Really great. Solid work flow. Perfect for live jamming etc. Sure, there are better editors and DAWs out there, but that isn't what this is trying to do..! Recommended.
