Great app

Great app I just don’t like how u have to pay for more depth info and to just see abt a few products. Better than some other apps where u have to pay for what u can get for free on here

So helpful!

I have an autoimmune illness and I am using this app to change over to products with much less chemicals or no chemicals. If you have children or anyone, I would definitely use this app for every purchase. This is also a way to “vote” with your dollars and support those companies that are doing right. This is an update to my first review: after using this app as a guide to change my purchases to products that have less (or none!) harmful chemicals, 60 days later, I am seeing and feeling a big difference in my skin and lungs. Less irritation, and fatigue. I have started to check every product I buy in this app. Target is a great store for offering many of the cleanest products recommended on this app. I have found 80% of the items recommended by “Think Dirty” there. There is a “clean” button on filters for most every product, which helps isolate which ones might be best. It does take some cross referencing to the app, to assure the cleanest products! Thank you for having the app!! 💜💜💜

Fantastic App

This app is such an eye opener! Not only to all the chemicals we are unaware of that are in our food but also those that we are mis-sold as being safe beauty wise, I’ve completely changed my whole skin care, hair and beauty regime as a result and cleared up a long term acne issue in just a few weeks as a result! So I’d even go as far to say this app is life changing! Learning all about the chemicals and their dangers has been so helpful to me. This is now my go to place for any new purchase so that I know what I’m putting on and into my body. Well done!!

NEED TO USE “VERIFIED” FILTER OPTION!!!

A lot of these products have not been verified as clean and the ingredient ratings are from just other users. I noticed this when I was looking for blush that was rated a 3/10.. under the ingredients, there is a section that says “Think Dirty Advice” that says: “the product is submitted by our awesome dirty thinkers community. However, it has not gone through official evaluation. Users’ discretion is advised.” once I filtered and only selected the “verified” clean blushes, my options dramatically slimmed down to just 7 different options - majority being 100% pure which is obviously going to be rated a 0 and wouldn’t take a genius to figure out 100% pure products are clean. This app used to be free, so what am I paying for if professionals aren't even verifying the products ingredients before giving them a clean rating??? Being someone with an autoimmune disease that tries to live a cleaner/less toxic lifestyle when I can, I found this extremely disappointing and deceiving. I would give this app 0 stars if I could. This is just another case of a business that pretends to care about the wellbeing of their consumers, but all they really care about is $$$

It’s a retail marketplace with reviews

This app ia essentially lead generation for a wide range of retailers. The “clean” factor is vaguely original but otherwise many other sites deliver the same experience without having to pay for it.
There would be so many ways to make this app more useful. Having to scan products is annoying especially if you are looking for new products that contain or lack certain ingredients that you have not purchased and don’t have a barcode for— being able to upload an ingredient list would be better if you are researching new products or brands. You can’t do a side by side ingredient comparison and you can’t search for products based on a specific ingredient (eg fragrance free, alcohol etc).

Absolutely terrible

I never leave a review but jeez this app is hard to use. Very few products scan, they have a random number on the side of the photo which I guess is how “dirty” the product is but there’s no explanation or frame of reference. You click the ingredient profile of a product and it says “0 hormone disrupters” etc in a list but then under that list states that it does have those ingredients as “inactive”? This is not a user friendly app. It also offered a 2 week free trial to their premium subscription but charged me instantly, and then continued to send me pop ups?! Save your time, money and sanity.

Not all info provided

ADDED FRAGRANCE IS A POTENTIAL IRRITANT. Therefore I feel the ThinkDirty rating system is misleading. Fragrance seems to be completely ignored it their reviews and ratings of products. Whether it’s an honest oversight or for less naive motives, app users are potentially being misled to believe their products are clean and safe. At the same time ThinkDirty boasts about the number of products reviewed / user count. While the majority might not be negatively affected by added fragrance, I feel the app and company are omitting information about added fragrance, which feels dishonest and could open the door to spreading of misinformation. While the reasoning behind my review is subjective, I challenge the leadership of ThinkDirty to do a better job of educating themselves on all potentially irritating / unsafe ingredients. I would like to hear the thought process behind why fragrance isn’t addressed. Based on reviews of products in their catalog that have top ratings, fragrance is not taken into account. Bottom line is anything that has any added fragrance, chemical or natural, should be disclosed as potential irritants when used in skincare, hair care, and other beauty products.

Thanks for this being a thing!!

I’m so glad my parents made me download this. I have extremely sensitive skin and eczema (a skin condition if u don’t know what that is) so I have to be very careful about the products I use on my skin. More careful than lots of people (especially as I have a fungal infection on my lip at the moment) but this app makes checking my skincare products so easy. Thanks to this I know I’m using good products for my skin type. Thank you creators for saving my skin!

Wealth of knowledge

Phenomenal app. Got recommended this app from a podcast. Finally gave it a go. I found about half of my products on it, being based in Australia. I submitted the other half (mainly through a series of photos) and was gobsmacked to see the results were up the next day! I found that it’s important to distinguish the Aussie version of a product (via its barcode) to say its international version as the regulations may differ. Overall, it seemed most of my products were green or yellow. But two came up red and I loved that I could research alternatives and save them to my “clean products” list for future reference. I’ve already sourced one clean alternative, which I’m thrilled about. The ingredient database is extensive and rich with information and references. Being able to’flag’ certain ingredients as a user is also helpful. I’m confident I may be able to solve which ingredient(s) are behind my lifelong sunscreen allergy (contact dermatitis). I’m incredibly impressed by the work the developers have put into the app. This is a medical revolution that traditional healthcare is yet to embrace.

Suggestion: separate store notifications from user notifications. I received 3-4 “salesy” notifications at once about making a purchase from the store which was a bit much.
