Thanks for the review! The drone bay does indeed spawn small ships at most every 7 seconds -- they are tiny though, just a single engine, an armor block, and a gun of some sort. There are a variety of drone types chosen at random, so sometimes you'll get a drone that freezes enemies, other times one that shoots normal bullets or sometimes even one that's just a fuel carrier to act as a decoy (they blow up very easily). If you're not seeing them, it might be just that they're dying very quickly, but that still means it distracted a missile, blocked a laser, or otherwise "took one for the team". It will also only spawn one at a time, so if it's flying around just barely offscreen, you might not see it. If you get far enough away from it, it will die on it's own so a new one can spawn.
