Notate me
A very expensive app...and very frustrating, I regret buying it, having first tried the free version, I did expect a lot more for the money AUD$68.00.....what a waste. Much better notation apps for a third of the price. So disappointing.
AMAZING
I am a piano teacher and often needs to rearrange music score or simplified some pop music for students or for duets. This app is very helpful particularly when I can just take a photo and edit /transpose the notes. It saves so much time notating each individual note. It works well with iPad pro and the stylus.

Cool but temperamental
Nice app but the other day it was working fine and smooth, now symbols are just popping up and I can't finish writing the sixteenth notes on the fourth beat, took me 10 minutes to do it right, yet the staccato symbols don't appear as I write them. So those sixteenth notes on the fourth beat is taking all the creative time and inspiration. Please fix.

Very frustrating app!!!
This app in concept is amazing. As a professional musician and an eternal student of music and theory, I'm always writing. Be it documenting ideas, composition, jazz theory, teaching, transcribing, I'm always writing. I keep a staff paper close by. I thought this would be the perfect use of my new iPad Pro and Apple Pen. Like others reviewers here, I wanted this to be the go to solution. Unfortunately, I have given up. My handwriting is very good and easily recognizable. The resolution on the Apple Pencil is amazing. Despite all of this, NotateMe doesn't seem to understand a simple sharp and even sees it as a flat sometimes. Most of us don't have a lot of disposable free time, and to burn it trying to teach this app recognition in futility is extremely aggravating. I know the following statement may seem contradictory, but I do wish the developer much success. We do need something like this, especially when discussing musical concepts with students on the fly. The concept is a very creative one, however, it is not ready for the prime time, and the company should not be putting this software out when it is not ready.

Impatient for audioscore and open-in
This is an amazing piece of software with the right device, (6s plus has a great camera for it!).
It does a quick and accurate job turning sheet music in audio. And THAT is why I bought the app.
But oh how I would love to also open pics I've previously taken! Why must it be on the spot? I don't want to keep my physical music with me at all times...I want to go digital with everything. Oh well. A very very nice start.
I can't wait for audioscore to come out (is that what it is called?) I need that too :)
Also...in-app purchases should be no more than $20...that is a lot for an app. $30 is over the top (esp with tax now)

Amazing App!
Okay, so this is a relatively new app and of course there is always room for improvement but it is amazing in what it can already do.
After trying out the lite version I immediately bought the full version as well as the photoscore IAP. A bit pricy for an iOS app, sure, but look at the desktop alternatives. All expensive and none of them work well, and the amount of trouble one has to go through to get the job done. You have to first scan the score in in the right format and resolution(a bit difficult if the music is part of a book), have it converted(with questionable accuracy), then transferred to your iOS device. With this app you can have the sheet converted to MIDI in less than a minute! I have to explore the manual entry method a bit more but what I have tried I am loving it. Been trying out a few of the notation apps and all are painful to use. The iOS platform is just perfect for Photoscore.
Now when my kids have a new piano piece to learn I can immediately have the music sheet captured and play back to them within a couple of minutes. My daughter needed to pick a song out of a few to learn for her Esttedford performance and I could let her listen to each piece before she decided which one to learn. Great for practising and getting a feel for the song before starting.
I can also scan any of my hundreds of music sheet in, have them converted to MIDI and use them in any of my composing apps and DAW. Extensive exporting options are available, and GM MIDI compatible too. :)
Like all desktop alternatives, accuracy of the MIDI conversion is not 100% but is still very good, so one does have to check if accuracy is important. Tricky notations like grace note...etc tend to trip it a bit but overall ok. Sometimes during playback it may get a bit lost with lots of repeats and score/music may get out of sync. Hence improvement is needed in these areas however I am still loving it. Before notate me I used to dread having to enter each note one at a time and now it is actually fun!
A few features I would like to see added:
-ability to import photos and PDF
-more customisable layout for the score
-coreMIDI
-AudioBus
-Inter-App-Audio
-MIDIBus
-Comprehensive file manger with folders and cut/copy/paste support
-ability to use user SF2 Soundfonts
-Practising tools: would be great if the app can become more interactive when using an external MIDI keyboard like waiting for the player to play the correct before playing continue.
What had also helped me in deciding to make the (relatively) expensive purchase is the frequent past updates, indicating the level of commitment of the developer to continue developing and improving the app. Hopefully my purchase as well as writing these positive reviews will help encourage the developer in his effort! Great work!
Edit(2015-11-22):
I have been using the Photoscore a bit lately due to my having to learn the new songs at the choir. I feel that the accuracy might has improved, possibly due to the higher resolution on my newer iPhone6.
Great to see the developer continuing to develop the app. :)

Great app, but . . .
I have found this a godsend. Inspiration strikes at the most unhelpful moments, but using Notateme I can quickly jot down my ideas and hear them played back.
Of course there are shortcomings and limitations. This is not a full-blown notation app like Finale on the Mac, but for its purpose, which I see as a rapid music-writing notepad, it is great.
It is pretty good at putting out .xml too, so you can easily load your creations into most other notation apps. Again there are some shortcomings. Some textual elements are either lost in translation, or land up in the wrong place. For example, I find that pulling the .xml into Finale will place some chord symbols as lyrics.
For me the most irritating aspect of Notateme is the fact that when playing back a score with repeats the second time through is often, but not always, played at half speed!
Overall I would strongly recommend Notateme as a musical notepad for recording ideas when you are on the move, but not for serious formatting of music where I find it much better to use one of the more complex and capable desktop apps.

Do Not Waste Money On This!
I'm still trying to get a refund for this product. What few things do work on this app are done in other apps much better. To get the ability to photo scan scores is $70 and it does not work. You'd be better off asking a drunk toddler to just transcribe it for you. Even as a composition app it fails spectacularly! It gets one star because zero stars isn't an option. Unless you're trying to play a cruel joke on yourself this app is less than worthless!

NotateMe Is Incredible!
With this app I am able to do what I once needed a full sized scanner and normal computer for!
Hand write music but more importantly use the PhotoScore plugin to recognize sheet music and turn it into digital music so that it is quick and easy to transpose parts to other instruments, make edits and everything else you can do with digital music!
Absolutely outstanding!

paper and pencil still faster for me
I was hoping to replace my paper and pencil and go right to print...not so fast. I have had mixed results trying to get the app to recognize my handwriting, after resetting it and starting the learning process several times. I have tried both using just slash note heads and round/oval note heads and both give me mixed results.
I'm also not a fan of how large the measure gets when I add a note. Every time I add a note the measure gets longer. That is a distraction for me...maybe I don't have something adjusted right?
I'm going to keep trying though, because I think eventually I'll get it, or it'll get me. Just not when I'm in a hurry.
